"As Shown on TV Products"

We are getting bombarded with "As shown on TV" products and I am wondering which ones are worth it and which ones to skip. Has anyone tried the "Potato Express" that cooks baked potatoes in 4 minutes? What are your thoughts? I know these are now available on Amazon and some are sold at Walgreens at Target. What are your favorite ones and what products would you skip?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the input. I even got a couple of new ideas of some things that work and definitely some products to stay away home.

I bought my mom the Pedi-Egg last year for Christmas - she LOVED it. I did NOT buy it from the TV commercial - I got it at CVS.

I bought something close to the Potato Express - again - not from the commercial - this

and love it!! My potatoes are done inside of 6 minutes...

I absolutely love and can't sleep without my side sleeper pro pillow - but I bought it before I knew it was asotv. Always read reviews before buying them and NEVER buy from the website. They almost always are a scam and sign you up for more than you bargain for. Only buy in person or through a third party like amazon or Lillian Vernon.

I have had a few products. I love my potato slicer for French fries. I did get one of those microwave steamers for veggies, and wasn't too impressed with it. My grandma has one of those ear-wax-vacuum things, and really likes it.

The potato express... I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I know my grandma made me a potato bag for Christmas last year hat allowed me to bake potatoes I. The microwave in 4-5 minutes, and they turned out great.

We will only buy the ASOTV products from a store where they are located and NEVER EVER from the ASOTV commercial.

All the commercial ad wants is your info to bombard you with more ads.

There are some decent products out there and I have a few. One think I intend to buy when I see it in the store is the Nuwave portable stove top eye. I could use that for parties, etc. I love the PedEgg and I have a neat wire basket for noodles, fries, etc that you just lift out of the oil or water and it is easy to use.

Bought a PedEgg but not directly through the commercial because I knew of the sleazy practices that way. Love the PedEgg! It really is a good product.

The only other product we tried was a huge mistake. Patch Perfect. It's supposed to be super strong grass seed that will work anywhere. We had patches in our backyard that would never grow and thought this would solve the problem. Nope. Followed the directions and just ended up with green slop sitting on the areas. Eventually, it turned brown and blew away/disappeared. Not even one blade of grass.

ETA: I just looked into the NoNo hair removal system that's heavily advertised right now. The reviews on that one are too much! Sounds like it burns the hair off, which leads to some awful smells and scorched skin. Definitely read online reviews before ordering any of these products.

Our local news station does a spot "Does it Really Do That?". I'm not sure if that is something that other news markets do or not, but a search of the internet might bring up such spots where they actually show you their testing of the products and how effective they are.

I tend to stay away from them after I bought Eggies. OMG! There was like 32 pieces to clean and it was horrible. Those are the things that you crack the egg into them and then boil them so you don't have to peel hard boiled eggs. I paid $9.99 for it and recently saw them at the dollar store...that should tell you something. lol I did want to try the Orgreenic frying pan, or whatever it's called. Always wondered if it worked or not. Thanks to the person who said the No No will burn you. Just saw that this morning and was wondering about it.

I recently bought the Edge of Glory knife sharpener at the grocery store for $5. I have really good knives but I pay $5-$8 a few times a year to have them professionally sharpened. Last time I dropped one off to be sharpened, the store lost it and had to replace it for me but I was forced to cook Thanksgiving dinner without it - I was not happy.

So I figured I was willing to lose $5 to see if it worked. It sharpened all of my knives beautifully. Maybe not quite as razor sharp as a good professional would have done it, but seriously - they were like new. Don't know how long it will last, but I love it.

My favorite ASOT product is the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie that was a gift from my father in law. At first, I didn't think I'd ever use it and it seemed ridiculous. Then I cooked a 13 lb turkey to absolute perfection in 2.5 hours. I've also used it for whole chickens and hams. I don't use it many times in a year, but I love that I have it when I need it.

I also have a set of Miracle Blade knives that is several years old and still as sharp today as when they were new. The plastic handle of the shears broke, but that is the only problem I had with the set.
