How about a spinach and artichoke dip or spicy artichoke dip? Stuffed mushrooms? Meatballs? For cold appetizers, I think cheese and crackers or veggies and dip would be fine.

We always order a large fruit tray from our local food store and buy the fruit dip to go with it.
Bruschetta and toasted crackers always goes over well too.
Crab Dip and Chips
Vegetable Tray and Dip
Another big hit at our house even among adults are "pigs in a blanket" (the little hotdogs wrapped in crescent dough) You will have to cook them at the party though and don't forget mustard for dipping:)

Meatball sliders? I made some for bookgroup, but I used ground lamb. Just make them like you would meatballs (leave out the spices though), and put them on little baguetes that have been sliced - they're just the right size. Melt some butter with rosemary, then spread it onto the sliced baguetes. Plop the meatballs between, and you're done. No condiments required. (Best if the meatballs are still warm, though.)

We've also done regular italian-spiced meatballs, and put them on the baguetes with a little mozzarella.

Put a more grown-up spin on plain old ranch dip by doing chipotle or jalapeno ranch

Sweedish Meatballs are so easy.

Go to Costco and get 1 bag of small frozen meatballs - no flavor. Then buy a jar of grape jelly and a jar of chili sauce. The ratio is 1:1 (same size jars)

Mix them together in a large pot. Once fuly combined, add meatballs. Cook for at least an hour - 2 if you can on low heat.

Enjoy!!

Bacon wrapped water chestnuts....so yummy or bacon wrapped shrimp- always first to go at any party. Brie en croute or for pizzaz- spread your favorite preserve on Brie- warm in oven and serve with little toast crackers. Hope this helps.

7 layer taco dip
cream cheese brick w/salsa on top
mini sausages or meatballs covered in bbq sauce
queso dip
My new favorite- olives soaked in hot wing sauce
get a regular jar of olives and pour out the juice. Fill it with Franks Hot wing sauce and let them sit in the fridge for a day. I put them in a small cup with tooth picks on the side to serve. So yummy!!
Happy Birthday to your Daddy!
Blessings!

Can you stick them in the oven when you get there? If you can, scallops wrapped with bacon, secured with a toothpick, are absolutely divine.

Best appetizer that I've ever had.

Congrats to your dad!
