Hi Mamas,

I am looking for some new ideas. I typically bake/make candy every year for certain friends/neighbors etc... for the holidays, and I am bored with what I make every year. Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated. I of course need something simple, since I am not a Martha Stewart or anything you know. I usually make some candy(mostly with chocolate) and some cookies. ANY IDEAS OUT THERE????

What can I do next?

One of my favorites to make (and it is easy) is Ritz peanut butter sandwiches dipped in Almond Bark. It is the best thing ever and now that Ritz make them already pre made it is even easier....... try it yourself first then let me know what you think

Try the food network, Paula Dean just did some cookies today and a very very easy candy that seemed to be really good, I am going to try them xmas. If you cant find it online, let me know and I will send you recipes I copied.
They are monster cookie, a choc wafer filled sugar cookie with pecans, a brownie cookie, and a choc marsh pecan candy. They all looked yum By the way, easy too, I am no martha either.

The monster was oats, m&ms, choc chips, pecans, peanut butter and drop on sheet and bake with butter sug etc , the candy was like a 10min thing and all simple

At a recent MOPS meeting someone brought a Cranberry Salsa that was wonderful. I'm going to make it for our Christmas Eve supper. Here's the recipe:

CRANBERRY SALSA

12 oz. cranberries (1 bag)
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and cored
half large red bell pepper, seeds removed
half large red onion
3 Tablespoons fresh cilantro
2 Tablespoons pickled japapeno peppers
half cup sugar
half cup apple juice
half teaspoon lime zest

Place cranberries, apple, bell pepper, onion, cilantro and jalapenos in a food processor. Pulse until chopped. Add in remaining ingredients and stir well. Cover and refrigerate at least one hour. Best if refrigerated over night before serving. Serve with chips or toasted pita bread. Muy bueno!

My mother and I always used to make Christmas trays when I was a kid, she gave to our teachers, family, any and everybody. She always did a variety of things such as, raw apple cake, banana nut bread, fudge, peanut brittle(I can't make this it is too difficult for me), she would dip raisins, nuts, and pretzels in white and dark melted chocolates, divinity(also hard to make), pumpkin roll(my favorite!!), and sometimes Christmas cookies. If there is anything above you would like recipes to let me know and I'll e-mail them. I am going to try this for myself for the first time this year, I will begin baking this weekend. Most of this stuff is very easy to make and if you make all of it in 1-2 days you can make a ton of gift trays. I found a recipe for Cream Cheese Sugar cookies this year and can't wait to try it out. I don't know of any perfect websites for recipes, there are so many. All of the above recipes come from the women in my family passing down through the generations, so they have been perfected. Anyway, good luck finding stuff and again if you want specific recipes to the above mentioned candies and cakes let me know and I'll e-mail them.
