Yes silly question, but I was wondering if there are any "secrets" :) She is 20 months old, and would not keep anything (well except her brothers CLEAN underwear :)) on her head for more than 15 seconds . No she does not need it ,she barely has any hair so it's not like it gets in her face or anything. But there are so many cute clips on Etsy:) I see girls her age and even younger with bows in their hair all the time. She likes everything girly otherwise . Any tips anyone????

What can I do next?

The only way I could keep clips in is to use a little rubber hair band (they look a bit like those rubber bands you use on braces) to pull back a small partition of hair and then clip the barette on to cover the rubber band, slipping it in a small amount of the hair just up against the head before the band. I have to do the same for any decorative hair ties too. Headbands are the same. My daughter is 3 and I still have to do it because they either slip out on their own or she takes them out. The rubber bands are doing all the holding, anything else is simply decorative.

Aww, you sound like me...but sorry nothing works! ;) I went through a phase where I really wanted my daughter to wear clips b/c they are SO cute, but she just refused. I could usually get her to wear them for about 15 minutes during professional pictures, but that was it! She is now 4.5 and still doesn't like them much. I have gotten her to wear headbands sometimes, but even though she loves sparkly things, dresses, pretty sandals, jewelry...she won't wear a darn hair clip!

Good luck, but I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause! :)

Lol. My DD still won't keep headbands in. They come straight off.

For bows that clip in, the best you can do is keep a super close eye on her, and every time she reaches for it stop her hand, and try to distract her with something else. Just keep on keeping on until she gets so used to the bow that she doesn't even notice it any more. Even then, she will probably still pull it out once in a while.

No.

Although my daughter loves to check herself out in the mirror, so sometimes clips and things last longer if I show her in the mirror and tell her how pretty she is. But often that doesn't work, either.

With my daughter, I just never used those things at that age.
Because yes, they take it right out.
So I stopped spending money on buying those things.
It was purposeless.
My daughter was a typical girly Toddler. But she would not keep those things in her hair. So I stopped using it.

My girls never liked things in their hair either :(
Maybe you'll get lucky and she'll grow out of it, some kids do!

With both of my girls I put a clip or band in their hair everyday. And I'd put it right back in the second it was pulled out--unless of course shed immediately take it out again. If so, I'd wait a few minutes until she was distracted by something else & put it right back in ;) It took months before either one would actually keep it in, but they both do now. They actually ASK for a bow =) From about age 17-21 months was the worst age for both, but they just gave up I guess, or didn't care anymore to pull it out. I really think you have to keep trying. Everyday. My brothers girls don't EVER wear ANYTHING in their hair, but their mom didn't push it on them either...I make & sell bows (and think they are just SO DARN CUTE!), so I really was just consistent with it and it worked! ;) Of course I never pushed it to the point they cried about it though! ;P

My girls were the same way. I put them in time and time again, but they didn't stay. The only thing that they kind of accept are rubber bands because they are hard to pull out. Sometimes I put clips in and then distract them. Put clips in after you have arrived to a special event, not before. Be happy for the 1/5 times they don't realize its there and accept that even then they will discover it in no time and take it out. LOL. With my oldest I just gave her a stinkin cute a-line hair cut with bangs because I can't do cute styles or hair accessories.

I spray the hair with regular hair spray then the inside of the clip mechanism. Then I put it in their hair so it will "glue" in. They only try to pull it out once, it is glued so it hurts, they don't do it again.

If she truly does not want it in where she can feel it then you may have to wait until she can do pigtails or a ponytail and you can do the clips on those. They might be forgotten or not noticed as easily.
