Am I Getting Sick or Getting Ready for Labor?

I'm a little stumped here-35 weeks pregnant and for the last few days I have been feeling nauseous, lost my once huge appetite and generally unwell-and then there is the going(#2) 3 and 4 times a day when this whole pregnancy I have been lucky to go once a week. The contractions have been picking up in intensity too-not every day but a few times a week. With my first-the only time I went into labor on my own I don't remember this happening at all. I see my doctor on on tuesday and I think I will let him know, but I haven't lost my plug or even changed my diet-my RLS has gotten worse as has the insomnia(to be expected I guess!) but I have virtually no pelvic pain at all(I did have ALOT when the other 2 dropped) and feel pretty dang good otherwise. Has this happened to anyone at all before labor? If so how long before?

What can I do next?

Sounds like you are getting there :)
To me, the last month was the worst.. couldnt sleep, had irregular poop cycle, braxton hicks contractions... swelling... it's an endless bunch of weirdness for sure.

The baby's getting bigger and squishing everything! Every pregnancy is different, so maybe you're carrying different, and baby is pressing on things in a way the siblings didn't. Braxton-Hicks contractions definitely start earlier and get more intense with additional pregnancies. Your body knows what's coming and is prepping. Congratulations and have a quick, safe delivery! Hang in there, just a few more weeks!

I think your body is certainly changing, getting ready for labor.

I would take it down a notch on the activity front, and lay down on your left side often. Hydrate enough, and notice how often you feel the baby. If you haven't felt it in a while, drink some OJ and lay down on your left side. If THAT doesn't illicit a response, you should get to the doctor.

It's really important to get another 2 weeks under your belt. Resting right now is your best bet, especially since you aren't seeing the doctor until Tuesday.

Good luck!

When I was about 35 or 36 weeks with my last baby I had the same thing happen. I was worried I was going into labor ( I have to have c-sections) but it ended up being just a flu bug. It lasted for about a week though. Maybe it has something to do with the body just being so worn down by the end of the pregnancy? Who knows......but If it turns into labor you'll know for sure haha.

This might be TMI, but I definitely . . . ummm . . . evacuated the bowels a lot more in the 2 weeks before I went into labor. I've heard it's your body's way of making it easier for the baby to come out.

Well, I only have the two kiddos. But I can say that other than the constant severe nausea (24/7, for 38 weeks until delivery) there wasn't very much that was the same with the two pregnancies.

The first, I never saw/lost the plug... at least not that I was aware. With the 2nd, I lost it at about 35 weeks or so(?) and it was obvious.

I had annoying RLS with the first. Not nearly so much with the 2nd.

The first, I had a lower back ache all morning before water breaking in the late afternoon the day I went into labor. No other "symptoms". With the 2nd, I felt pelvic bone discomfort/pain. Like I was being prodded every time I hit a dip in the road driving my car. My water didn't break until I was already admitted and in the room.

The first, I don't recall any stomach issues. The 2nd, I recall realizing I was starting labor when I was in the bathroom having yet another BM.

The first, I was 11 days past due date. The 2nd, I was a week early.

The first, I had a bi-lobed placenta, but no complications from it.
The 2nd, I carried breech, and ended up needing external version to get her to turn, a week before I went into labor.

The first was 8 lbs 12 oz. The 2nd was 7 lbs 6 oz.

Then, well I guess there were a few other similarities... I did both with no medical interventions (no drugs of any kind, not pitocin, not an epidural; no episiotomy; no forceps) and had perfectly healthy babies. :)

So, the thing is, you just can't base what any of it means off of a previous pregnancy. They can be SOOOOO different. Nothing about the onset of labor symptoms was the same with my two. Nothing.

You may not lose your plug. RLS doesn't really mean anything, except it is miserable to deal with. Lack of pelvic pain? Good, enjoy it.
I would say your body is getting ready... but that can be a lengthy process, or not. You might slowly get ready and have your new one on its due date, or you might go a little early. Or late. ;)

Whichever way, congratulations...

Without going into "details", I went into labor 3 days after my mucous plug started to come out (didn't happen all at once). The day before, I was um... in the potty a LOT and let my husband know that he needed to get the bag packed because I was pretty sure we would have our little girl very soon! Felt crampy, but nothing worth "timing" or worth stopping for, but BAM water broke that night!

At 35 weeks, you may be getting sick because it's pretty early but you never know! Take it easy and keep track of what's going on!
