I have pretty bad allergies year round(smoke, pollen, pet dander, mold etc), some months worse then others. I'm talking sneezing, stuff nose, itchy/red eyes and sore throat. Is there anything you guys can recommend that really works for you, even something more natural would be great as well. Help, help.... :)

What can I do next?

There is a prescription nasal spray...brand name was Flonase, but there is a generic version nowIt works the best for me, by far. I have year-round allergies but they are at its worst May through October. I start the spray in April and can stop in October. I used to use Claritin daily and now only need use it when I'm going going into the woods for hiking.

our allergist said "no" to a purifier. He said that it keeps you in a bubble & then the allergens hit you even harder when you're out & about....kinda makes sense. :)

I use Zyrtec daily, in conjunction with my Singulair.

My son used to take Zyrtec & use both prescription eye drops & nasal spray.

Allergies are tied to your immune system.

If you have low adrenal hormones, you will have an immune system in overdrive and hyper response to smells, foods, etc....

If you have high adrenal hormones, you will have a suppressed immune system and subject to be bothered by pollens, molds, etc....

If your doc wont order you a test, you can get a saliva cortisol ____@____.com (through ZRT), its about 100 bucks.

When you find out your cortisol is too high, a few things can help you. Taking vit c, and holy basil. Also a substanse called PS.

We have bad allergies as well. I am very sensitive to strong perfumes, smoke, etc and that will make me sick for a week.

I take sudafed and it helps with the pressure.

We use the Nasal rinse often

For allergies related to pollen, our trees, etc... in the spring I sprinkle local bee pollen on my cereal or just take about a 1/2 teaspoon of it. It seems to help a lot as well.

I know there's been some concern lately with Neti Pots and amoebas in the water, but in our family sinus rinses have really helped with allergies.

For seasonal allergies, the European herb butterbur is looking like a good natural remedy.

My husband suffers from pretty bad allergies, and when he gets really congested he mixes eucalyptus oil or menthol with boiling water, puts a towel over his head, and inhales the steam. He looks ridiculous, but he claims it really helps break up the congestion.

Have you considered an air purifier or humidifier? We used a humidifier when our oldest was suffering from severe allergies and it helped.

Allergies can be a real bear, I hope you find something that helps!

They say to wash hair daily...lots of allergens stay in hair...keep windows closed at night in summer, that's when trees pollenate, and I agree with the nasal rinse. Eat anti-inflammatory things like fish oils.

Daily nasal rinses make a huge difference. Zyrtec daily is also helpful, but 2x as helpful with the rinses. SInurinse are my favorites.
