Feel like you were broken? LOL, let me explain. While I was in the hospital I got restless, and I wanted to take a short walking trip around the hospital floor. But while I was walking I noticed a very odd feeling. It felt like my hip bones and leg bones were disconnected at the hips. It was really weird, like all the part were moving independently from each other. I haven't talked to anyone else that had that same feeling. It went away after a few days but I still remember it. Did anyone else experience something like that?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh my gosh, with my first I felt like someone took a meat tenderizer to me. It took months for me to feel 'normal'. With my second (and they were twins), nothing...I was up and walking around the same day.

Your body produces a hormone that softens and spreads your hip bones to make way for baby. It's the reason your hips will never be as small as before birth. It's also the reason your pre-pregnancy shoes will never fit again. Your bones literally spread.

I was feeling that 2 weeks before delivery.
In preparation for birth your joints and ligaments relax and your pelvis is not held together as firmly as you are use to.
Once birth happens it doesn't snap back into place right away.
It took me another few weeks before it felt like things were not grinding anymore when I was walking.
I'm glad I was that loose - I never would have been able to push out my son (he was 9 lbs 1 1/2 oz) otherwise (doctor said I had GREAT birthing pelvis/hips), but it was annoying it took so long for me to pull back together.

I remember rolling over on to my side and feeling like ALL of my guts were moving too, I hated that feeling, seems like it lasted at least a week.
Our body goes through a lot of trauma while carrying that package, it's amazing we recooperate at all, lol.

Look up what the hormone relaxin does to a woman's body during pregnancy, child birth and post partum... it will explain everything.

I got more than the FEELING right after I had my fourth... I actually couldn't walk for over 3 weeks after delivery. I did not have the ability to walk! My pelvis separated. Thankfully, It merged together again on it's own and I could walk. I crawled from place to place. Without much help (my mom was available to help, and hardly helped me AT ALL!!!) in a 3 story house with 4 kids, under 5 years old... THAT was a challenge!!! My husband HAD to work after the first week, but he was always helping when he was home -though he did work 7 days a week.

I THINK I just had TOO MANY kids too close together! My body was like "That's IT!!!!" Lol.

Totally normal. We produce a hormone during labor that causes those ligaments soften so the baby can get out.
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!

TOTALLY. My one son stayed very low in my pelvis for WEEKS. So I felt that way before I had him, and for awhile after I had him. It stunk! I felt like my legs were just going to fall off at the hip LOL

Oh ya I know that feeling...I was also so stupid during my last pregnancy. Both of mine were "perfect" no complications, sickness or anything like that. So I was about 3weeks from my due date, was taking out the trash, for some reason I thought it would be ok to push the door open with my foot. So I did..and then I fell to the ground in pain. I tore a ligament in my pelvis...I swear I wanted to slap myself. It hurt SOOO bad. I had to hit the leasing office's buzzer so I could have someone help me get up.
Ya lets say that also made my labor all that more fun...

'B' and 'Tracy K' said it perfectly. Be glad we spread or it would be so much worse. :-)
