Ok Mamas,

Here is the background about me and my family. I am 27 and in great health (besides my Alopecia), my hubby is 29 and is great health also. My hubby and I have been married for just under 5 years (Oct 9 is our Anniversary), we have two boys, a 4 year old and a 14 month old. We just moved into a 4 bedroom 2 bath house with a den in July, our boys have there own rooms and we also have a playroom. Since my youngest was born I had the urge to have another child. I thought it was hormones and it would go away, it did for a little while but it is back again. My husband was totally anti a second child until we talked more about it and then BAM we were prego that month. We have been discussing a 3 off and of for the last 13 months now. He kind of flip flops and then says that it is up to me and my stress level. I think of the money aspect of things (bigger car for me, more child care expenses (but my oldest will be in Kinder next school year), gear, diapers, the whole nine yards), and the room aspect also. We can build a closet in the den as it already has doors to the room but is lacking the closet. The draw back is that it is in the front of the house and is the furthest point from our other boys bedrooms and far from the bathroom. Alternative, our oldest boys can share a room when the time comes but I dont want them to feel put out. Sorry I'm a planner so this has to be settled before we decide on when we will start trying. Anyone with 3 that can give me advise on any of this or any one with 2 thinking about the same things?

Workinmom, you have brought up a great point. The playroom is just off the kitchen so the location is perfect for the playroom. The den is at the front of the house and my oldest doesnt like being up there by himself. See these are the delimma I have going on in my head.

What can I do next?

I have 2 and stopped. One for each hand. One of each parent, and everyone gets a window seat without having to get a bigger car....

I have 3, our third was a complete oopsy baby...we feel so blessed and we are in close quarters! I think this is definitely not something you enter into lightly but I think it has to be between you and your hubby, one thing I can tell you is if you do have another do not automatically push the 2 older to share a room, instead have the baby in your room for a while...heck my youngest was in a crib for 2 years! Also it sounds awful but our youngest was such a noisy sleeper we ended up putting the crib in the family room for a while and using a baby moniter...the plus side was he definitely learned to sleep through noise! Lots of luck whatever you decide.

We are expecting our 3rd in the next few weeks. At first I was scarred and worried b/c of the same list as above, "where are we going to put baby, bigger car, baby gear, starting all over again, etc." But now as we wait for baby the worrys have eased a bit. We only live in a 3 bedroom home, but baby will be with us for at least the first 6 weeks which will allow us to best decide who is bunking with who. Our basement is finished so we may make it a master suite down there and let our kids have the upstairs. As far as cars go, originally we were going to go the mini van route but that would have meant car payments and me going back to work. So, we found an extremley great deal on a used Durango that had everything I wanted on my wish list (and the best part was no car payment!!). Also, 3rd time around we realized we didn't need 1/2 the baby gear we had with the first 2 babies. So, I think with all that, we just went ahead and went for it knowing that we didn't have to do it the same exact way we did with the first two babies.

good luck with your decision! Wish you the best!

My only suggestion is on the room situation. What about putting a baby in the playroom, and the den as the playroom?

I could have written this post almost! We have a girl 3yrs and a boy 10 months and we've been going back and forth and my husband said almost the same thing yours did (except that I think he really wants a 3rd). I have found myself trying to talk myself OUT of wanting a 3rd since my DS was born. Now, 10 months later, I'm still trying to talk myself out, try to "Plan" rooms, etc and logistics and logic ALL say STOP AT 2!!! BUT, if we have to keep trying to talk ourself OUT of it...chances are it is something that is supposed to happen! I wrote a similar post re: bedrooms not long ago...and I got wonderful responses basically saying that the logistics will work themselves out and that should NOT be a reason not to have another child.
Hope it helps knowing you are not alone! We're thinking of seeing what happens when DH is on midtour leave in the Spring...so we'll see! (Maybe after being alone with 2 for almost a year, I'll have changed my mind! LOL)

I think there are some things in life that you just can't plan on. And there are some things in life that just don't apply to planning--like whether you WANT another child or not.
No O. looks back and says "Oh, remember when Jimmy and Johnny had to share a room?" or " Eeewwweee, our bedroom was SO far from the bathroom"! That's kind of senseless, don't you think?

We are about to have our 3 rd in 3 weeks. We have a small 3br townhome, our boys (3 1/2 and 5 1/2)share a room, this will be a girl so she will go in the same room with the boys(I am not willing to give up a playroom:)) Since our boys are older we did not have anything for the baby, but between friends and craigslist it was cheap. We r also doing cloth diapers to save the $$$$.We did buy a bigger car, but it was again on craigslist.....
