Hi!! I had a question for all the moms in the palm beach county area. I just found out a couple of weeks ago that I was pregnant again. I have to go to a doctor that only goes to Good Samaraton and St. Mary's. When I told my mom she acted like they were bad because she had visited someone and said they werent very clean. Has anyone recently had a baby there or is going to have a baby at one of those hospitals that has any diffrerent opionions. I really want this doctor's office because it is one of the very few in this area that has midwives that accept medicaid.

Any help would be really appriciated!! Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Hi J.! I had my baby Zachary at Good Sam in Aug of 06 and we had a wonderful experience. The hospital was clean and nice and the nurses were wonderful. I had a natural birth and they helped me stick with it too. I don't have a very good opinion of St Mary's though. Hope this helps!

I had my second son at st.mary's and they were fabulous! he actually came early, so we had to go to st.mary's but would have been there also with a midwife. I had to be there for about 10 and every nurse was fantastic and as sweet as they could be, and all rooms are private. Everything was very clean, and god forbid there are any complications your baby is right were he/she needs to be.

I also had an outpatient procedure at Good Sam and liked it very much, but I'd say go to st. mary's.

Hi J.,

I delivered my daughter at Good Samaritan this past January. I thought the hospital was wonderful. The nurses were excellent and were right there if I needed anything. I would definitely recommend having your child there.

Good Luck and Congratulations!
M.

Congrats! I would personally go check out the hospitals that your doctor is affiliated with. The only way you will know is by seeing for yourself and getting discernment on what is best for you and your precious baby that will be coming in to this world You want the best for this baby don't you.

I had my son at Good Sam 2 years ago. The hospital was clean, the nurses were good except for 2 things: 1. my overnight nurse the 1st night who was supposed to get me up to sit in the chair within a certain amount of hours after my c-section, per my doctor's instruction, never did. I was left in bed until the next nurse came on in the morning, which I believe made it more painful when I eventually got up; and 2. my other complaint, which turned out fine but could have been a nightmare, was that my friend came to visit me one night . . . the next night came back - I was sleeping and the baby was in the nursery at the time. I woke up to my friend walking into the room with my baby in the basinette (they shouldn't allow anyone but the nurses to get the baby from the nursery and give the baby only to the parents). When we asked them about it, they said they had seen my friend in there the night before with me, so they thought it was ok. Obviously they shouldn't do that!!! If I didn't have pictures from the minute my son was born I would always wonder . . . except that he looks and acts EXACTLY like my husband of course! Maybe it was just an inexperienced nurse or someone not familiar with the rules but someone could switch a baby or just take him. The rest of the time that we were there, they were very strict about their vistitor policy.
