My husband and I would like to sign our 3 1/2 year old up for something and we received a sign up sheet in the mail a few weeks ago. Has anyone had their little one play through NYS? I'd also like suggestions on which to play - 3's have a choice of soccer or T-ball and we only have experience with T-ball but neither of us know anything about soccer. I feel like soccer might be a better place to start for some reason?? Anyway, I need to sign him up really soon so I'd appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
S.

So What Happened?

We did play for NYS and they are very unorganized. We had games with No goals so we had to make our own. That was just the start everyone on our team agreed that we would never play with NYS again. One family had a son playing basketball too and it was bad with that too! So if you decide to play choose another league!

Hi, I had both of my older boys in the YMCA t-ball program. I liked their approach because it was non-competitive. The kids were just there to learn the game and have fun. I don't have any experience with soccer, but I do have some friends who are extremely competitive with it. Their daughter started, but now the whole family plays on different teams, and they wouldn't let their daughter skip one practice so she could come to my son's b-day party last week. I personally don't want to get so serious about sports, but the Y's soccer might not be as competitive as other organizations. You should check them out. Hope this helps!

We had our 2.5 year old in soccer this past spring (he had just turned 2 in Jan) in Euless. They have a great program for toddlers up and into the teen years I believe. It's Lil Kickers. It was I think $99 for 12 weeks. We MAY put him back in there this fall...not really sure. However, Andrew has been hitting the baseballs since he was a little under age 2...so we're starting him in BLAST BALL this next Jan. when he turns 3. It's a small baseball type game with 3-4 year olds. THey have regular Sat. games with the other teams but it's not as in-depth as the real baseball/tball games. It's perfect for their size. Grapevine has this going on as well as Flower Mound I THINK.

Hi S.. I live in Watauga and also have a 3 year old and a 4 month old (both boys). I was checking into soccer for my 3 year old, but all I could find was a program called soccer tots (the url is www.soccertots.net). I know they offer free trial classes. I've thought about taking my little boy, but they only offer the classes on Tues. afternoon and Sunday's. Please let me know about NYS soccer or T-ball if you hear anything.

They don't allow 3 1/2 year olds to play t-ball in my area but they can sign up for soccer... I liked it... it was 3 on 3 with no goalie and they just got to run run run. IT's a good outlet for energy and lets them get initiated into working as a team. They usually don't "get it" until after the first season... lol... but it's so fun to watch them! Now at age 7 my son LOVED LOVED LOVED t-ball (he'll be in coach pitch this next season though) but I wouldn't have ever put him in t-ball that age b/c they just don't "get it"...
