Adults and Hand Foot and Mouth Disease

Hello all:
My kids contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease, which is very contagious, but is usually confined to children five and under. Adults rarely get it. My question is this - I have begun to develop a sore throat, and the skin on my feet and hands have become very sensitive. No blisters, though. Has anyone been an adult with HFMD, and does this sound like symptoms? Or am I being a suggestable hypochondriac :-) ?

Thank you!

My kids came down with it quite young and I remember I felt generally crappy and it felt like I had a popcorn kernel in my throat along with it being sore for a few days. Adults can get it too but it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

If you've never had it, you can get it.
When our son got it in day care, I got it too.
Neither of us had fevers - just little painless blisters on our hands and feet (never noticed any in our mouths).
It wasn't enough to keep us home sick.
The cool thing about it was - EVERYONE in the office kept their hands off my computer/keyboard for a solid month - which was nice.
Some people get some really bad cases of it.
Ours was very mild.

My daughter got HFM her second day of daycare (she was splashing in a puddle). I got it two days later. The pediatrician said that it's a old wives tale that adults can get it. It was SO BAD. I had such a fever and felt like I was going to die. But it subsided after 24 hours. The blisters were in my throat and on my hands.

Good luck - wash your hands OFTEN!!

My son just got this today! I can feel your hypochondria problem! As a mom of 5 I'm going to try to keep this contained! And I hope I don't get it also! Good luck!
