A Question for the "Baseball Moms"

After spending 1.5 hours in Sports Authority with my 13yo (...and 8yo and husband) yesterday, I'm sufficiently frustrated and hoping someone can help. My son has outgrown his "cup" and I tried (unsuccessfully) to buy what I assumed was the next size at Target. Well, I purchased an adult because all they carry is youth and adult. I assumed that since he's wearing adult medium pants that the adult cup would work. It did not. Too big, plus does not fit into his slider shorts, which are youth size. So...he tried on lots of combinations yesterday and nothing worked. Now I'm sure that he needs the "junior" or "teen" size cup--seems obvious enough, BUT they don't carry "junior" or "teen" size slider shorts!?!?! Well, they do have a package with both cup and slider short, but that brand (McDavid) did not fit comfortably and he thought there was too much "moving around". Hoping someone can help--where do I buy a "teen" cup and "teen" slider shorts? What's a good brand? ...at this point, I'm willing to pay more $$ just to be done. I need 1 cup and preferably, 2 pairs of shorts. (He plays select so they play lots of games!)

What can I do next?

I don't know if you guys have a Dick's around you, but I've always had good luck there. My son wears compression shorts which I imagine are the same as the slider shorts you're talking about...? If they are, then just get him whatever size cup he needs & look elsewhere for the shorts to just pop the cup into, that's what we did for my almost-12 year old.

I'll be following this because I have a 14 year old baseball player with similar issues who is crammed into his youth size sliding shorts right now. What about Play it Again Sports? They carry new merchandise also and that is where I got his current practice pants (new). I saw they carry the slider and compression shorts with cup pockets also. I also saw sliding shorts at Walmart, but they didn't have a big size or style selection.

Take the cup with you & try them in the sliding shorts before you buy them (see if it fits).

We use Models...my son is 11 and uses the boxer style cup - they are by Rawlings....the size should be the same size or one step bigger than his pants or shorts....so if he's wearing a 32 waist - then he should be able to wear a 32 or 34 cup/support.

my son HATES a jock strap...so we had to use the Boxer Briefs....

GOOD LUCK!!!
