My daughter will be 8 years old on 11/26/10; which happens to be "Black Friday" this year. I always have to have her parties early because her birthday falls around Thanksgiving. I am just not sure what to do this year. She has had a sleepover, skating party, and just the normal at home parties and last year she had her horse so all her friends could ride him. I would just like to do something different this year and any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Embrace the craziness!

Me, I would do 1 of 2 things.

1. (I have done this) have a sleepover sleepin. The party would start Thurs. night at like 9pm, and then take all of the girls out to late movie, midnight bowling, and a super early like 3-4a 'Black Friday' Breakfast at IHOP! Then back to the house for sleep, cake and presents.

OR

Have a party sleepover Friday night/ Saturday. The Black Friday shopping craziness should be over by dinner time.

This year dd turned 9 and because of when her birthday falls we either do hers earlier or later. This year we decided to do a small camping trip with a few friends to a local state park (30 minutes away so if someone wants/needs to go home it's not too far). We will camp in tents, swim at the swimming beach (because we are going this weekend and the 90s will be returning), hike, roast marshmallows and hotdogs, etc. Last year we had a luau, the year before a party at "fun" center with games where you win tickets, go karts, a climbing wall, etc.

Do the party on her actual BD--the parents would probably love to drop the kids off and have a few hours to get their shopping done LOL! You can do a beauty day at the local mall (hairdo's, nails, lesson in skin care) and then take them to one of the eateries. You can do the movies and lunch. Bowling is always a favorite. How about a party at a ceramic studio where the girls can paint and glaze a piece for themselves or someone they love as a gift? What about an indoor pool party (local gym or hotels offer packages for kiddie parties)? Have fun choosing!

A spa makeover party seems to be a huge hit at this age. There are salons that do these or if you have some other moms that are willing to help you can have a nail station, make up station and hair station. My godchild even set up a little backdrop for them to take pictures and then she printed them there. They had decorated the little acrylic frames to put the pictures in. If you do a sleep over you can even have the girls decorate their own frame with puff paint. I have two boys and would LOVE to have a little girl to throw a party for!!! Have fun and good luck!!!
