Does anyone out there know of any great tutoring places or private ones that is reasonable price. I have a 11 year old daughter that is in the 5th Grade and is really having some struggles in some of her school subjects. Any info or help would be great. Thanks....

What can I do next?

As an elementary school teacher (1st grade for 3 years; 5th grade homeroom with a 6-8th grade ESL pull-out program for 1 year before taking time off to have my babies), I did hear great things about Sylvan Learning Centers although I also heard they can be a bit expensive. Another idea is a high school student tutor (be sure the HS student is a very good student prior to the tutoring). Another option is a college student studying to be a teacher. If your child needs more professional help than a HS or college student can give (ex - needs prescribed help and more structure than just homework help), maybe try a local certified teacher. I have always been of the opinion that the most important thing in school is successful students. That doesn't mean an "easy A". That means the students are learning methods, problem solving, and retaining the knowledge obtained. I don't know what area you are in, but I am in Chandler and would be willing to help, if you like. I don't know what your budget is (probably tight given the current market), but I am sure we could work out something that works for all parties involved. In any case, good luck in your search, and I wish your daughter all the success in the world!

I would check with the local colleges or universities. They have many young people studying to be teachers at all grade levels and with flexible schedules. Maybe get in contact with campus info or put up a notice on the board. You might get a really great tutor for little $$$. Hope it helps.

I have used On Track Tutoring ###-###-#### and have been EXTREMELY happy with them. Ask for Dana Herzberg the owner and tell them I referred you. She will take good care of your daughter and they come to your house.

We recently asked out neighbor, who is high school, to tutor our daughter. It seems to be working our great.
