I feel obliged to give out favors but don't want to give a bag of junk. What favors have your kids received that you liked?? Thanks

What can I do next?

Last year we got a kite at one of the parties. I thought it was an excellent idea and I did it for my other son's party this year. They have simple kites at the dollar store.

One favor that went over really good at a friends b-day party was the bug catcher boxes for the boys and the butterfly / bug nets for the girls. The mom went and bought those at the Dollar Tree and the kids loved them ! At $1 each you can't beat it.

Honestly, nothing. It all gets forgotten after the party is over. I know this isn't being helpful, but I don't think kids need favors for attending parties. It's a good time to learn about being generous.

I refuse to give away junk, too!

In the past I have done beach towels, summer pool floats, crafts for girls and a small playmobile set for boys. I always add some candy and maybe a Japanese eraser. When I bought the crafts/Playmobile last year, I went to a small toy store with my list of kids and bought according to age (most were 4 year olds but we had some 6 year olds and 8 year old cousins). It may cost a dollor or two more per favor and take a little more time and effort but it's worth it in the end.

I have no idea what to do this year!! We are having a bowling party and I just might do crafts again.

I always love it when the favor is a craft the kids made at the party.

One of my favorites was when the kids took a group photo at the beginning of the party, then decorated a foam frame during the party. Then, while the party was going on, the parents printed out the picture of all the kids and had the finished frames and photos ready for them to take home. They even glued magnets on the back so it was refrigerator-ready.

I do a $5.00 gift card to Mc Donald's or the movie theatre.

PARENTS LOVE THIS!

You can easliy drop $7-10 on throwing junk in a goddie bag and the kids don't really care after 30 seconds.

I saw someone else say they got a kite. My son's birthday is Saturday, and I found awesome spider man kites at the dollar store. They didn't have girl-themed ones, so I also got really cool nature coloring books. All at the dollar store. So I spent like $15 and each kid will go home with either a coloring book or kite and I'm sure will be VERY happy! Have fun, such a special age!! (:

E.,

If you have a nice party for your child and the guests, never feel OBLIGATED to give a favor. There will be plenty of years ahead when special occasions and party favors will/might be more appropriate.

If you must, I love the little bottle of bubbles and you can have them personalized with the name, date and occasion.

Blessings....

My son (birthday in February) decided he wanted to have a "hot chocolate and marshmallow" party this year. He turned 5. We set up the party in our yard (buried in snow with paths carved in it) so that the kids could play out there. For a party favor I found at the dollar store come travel mugs with a color-your-own insert. As the kids arrived, I put their names on pre-cut inserts and invited them to color and put stickers on the papers. Then I put each child's mug together as they finished. When all the kids were done with that and a quick snack they went out to play. When they came in I made them all hot chocolate in their newly decorated mugs. Those then became their favor to take home, along with a little bag of treats, candy canes (my son insisted on candy canes) and some other little candies, a few crayons and stickers and a brand new pencil with extra erasers (I gave those out at the beginning so they could use them on their mugs). The kids all loved it.
