I turn 40 in under 4 months and am looking for some things to do to mark the occasion in a positive way. One thought is to send a book to some of my friends as a thank you for being a part of my life. I would love to hear suggestions on amazing books that you think would be good for this.

Also looking for other ideas to put on a kind of bucketlist to do as I countdown to 40.

What can I do next?

Depends on what you are into- I would want to see machu pichu and the galapagos, or go on an african safari. I would want to have each of baskin robbin's 31 ice cream flavors. I'd like to swin with dolphins, or snorkle the red sea. I'd like to see the northern lights. I'd like chocolate crepes and coffee in a cafe in paris. I'd like to see milan and revisit venice. I'd like to nestle with a bunch of bunnies.

Best,

I just had my 40th birthday. My husband took me to a get-away in the mountains -just the two of us. We went ziplining and snow tubing. It was a blast, and I felt 20 again (although my achy muscles begged to differ the next day). Go out and do that thing you have always wanted to do. I've always wanted to try parasailing and white water rafting. That's next. :)

It's not really a bucket list item, but it's a celebratory thing. We've had parties for our "0" birthdays, and we invite people to bring an anecdote, poem, limerick, song parody (new lyrics to something everyone knows, like "I've been working on the railroad" or "take me out to the ball game" or "my favorite things"), and the party or dinner turns into a bit of a roast. But to be surrounded by friends who love you and find you amusing, who celebrate your wonderfulness, is a great way to move into the next decade with confidence and excitement and rejuvenation!

Have fun putting this together!

Do something fun with girlfriends or hubby.

Go on a trip!! I've done this with girlfriends and by myself. I'm in Miami now on a girls trip withy 20yr old daughter!!

My hubby gave me a red convertible when I turned 40! I loved that car and thought of my hubby everytime I drove it.

We have since sold that car and now I have a fancier sports car that I adore!!! Again, everytime I drive, I think of hubby!!

This year he gave me a special ring from Tiffany's. My daughter says its a second engagement ring and it sort of is but I love it!!!

I also like showing my friends appreciate for our friendship with special dinners and outings!

Have fun!!!

I hadn't even really thought of this before, but thanks for the idea. My 40th will be in July, and after reading everyones' ideas, I think a weekend, or heck, even one night away from the kids at the beach or mountains with hubby sounds pretty great. We haven't been on a non-family date since our almost 4 year old was born.

Other than that, I have no idea. Maybe a really pretty and fancy gluten free cake from a fancy bakery? Good luck and keep sharing your ideas cause I'm gonna think about using them too.

Most people I know take a fabulous girls (or spouses) trip for their 40th. Actually 3 people I know have gone or are going to Vegas in the last year and going forward 6 months from now. I hope to do something when I hit 40 that is fabulous too!
