I am currently pregnant with our third son. I have been having braxton hicks contractions during the day pretty normally now for a few weeks which is nothing I am worried about with my other two i started getting them at five months so this I know is normal for me. But for the last week now only at night like after eight pm I have been getting more painful not regular contractions that take my breathe away and i either have to bend over to work through them or breathe through them if i am itting down already. With this i have also been getting really nauseas at night i have been putting it off to the fact that i am overly tired (both my three and one year old have given up afternoon naps lately) but i also know you can feel sick when you go into labor. So does any of this sound normal? I havent had this happen so early into the third trimester before so i dont know. I did go into premature labor with my first son at just a little over eight months so i am started to think maybe that is the way i am headed with this one. So for moms that have had three help!! Am i loosing my mind and just need to calm down or should i start packing my bags? I also have never felt going into labor on my own that i know of as being labor. with my first they were able to stop the contractions and i only ended up being induced a week early. I had medication well before the epi even so i didnt feel any of it. And with the second one i went into labor on my own but had know idea i was in labor i wasnt feeling contractions at all until my doc had said your going to l and d they ended up giving me potcin and the epi. So i have never felt what was really contrations and labor before. thats a little of why i have no clue and on baby number three.

What can I do next?

I am pregnant with #5 and I experiences a lot of Contraction with my babies. I also had a lot of leg cramps so my midwife suggested I take liquid calcium because a lack of calcium and magnesium shows up in the muscles. Your contractions are a type of cramping. I was taking a calcium pill and I am big on dairy but for some reason I was not absorbing it. Literally within a couple days my leg cramps were gone and so were the contractions. From the sounds of your births before I would highly recommend the movie, "The Business of being Born" It is an excellent documentary about the astonishing maternity crisis in America. For all the "wonderful" interventions our infant and maternal mortality rates are worst than all but one other developed country. Educate yourself about interventions, you and your baby will be glad you did!

My third came so much quicker, and earlier (3 weeks). I think with every pregnancy your body becomes more used to "what it is supposed to do" and prepares yourself a bit earlier. It never hurts to have your bags ready early though. When you fell the contractions coming on, drink lots of water, try and relax for a few hours, and if they still don't go away, you should probably go into the birth center just to be checked...better safe than sorry!
Good luck to you with everything!

Well I would call the doctor's office and let them know whats going on. Its always a good thing to do. to me it sounds like dehydration.....lots of fluids might put a halt to it. Try gatoraid and vitiam water.....during my daughter-in-laws last pregency she had to have one on hand all the time or the cramps would start up.
CONGRATS!!!!

we hae very similiar situations.... my kids are that close together and all 4 of my labors were induced.... I worried a lot during my last trimester because I was afraid every little twinge was labor. You are most likely tired and over doing it. I know how it is.... my last pregnancy I had an almost 1 and almost 2 year old to chase around in addition to a 4 year old going to preschool and other activities. It is pretty safe to say that my house wasnt very clean or organized suring the last 4 weeks or so.. You most likely do not have anything to worry about. Tell your OB next time you see them.

If you have had a premature baby, doctors say you're likely to continue the trend with subsequent pregnancies. I had my first son at 34 wks, second at 36 weeks and my daughter came the week of her due date ONLY because I got p17 shots to ensure I went full term.

Doctors worry if they think you'll go before 34 weeks because baby's lungs aren't developed enough for them to breathe without any help. You didn't mention how far along you were but I'd be cautious. You should keep a bag packed and try not to do too much...a lot of emotional and/or physical strain can cause baby to come early.

There are various signs that can indicate premature labor but with each of my children, the signs were different. B-H contractions can get more intense the further you are--but true contractions don't go away when you move around and they come regularly and get stronger. Express your concerns to your doctor so that he can better inform you of what might be going on. Hopefully that'll give you some peace of mind! Drink lots of water, don't lift heavy, and do your best to rest. I know it's difficult with two little ones but try!! Let us know how everything turns out and congrats:)

I have had 3 babies :) I was induced with all 3, only had my water break once at home. The hardest was my third by far! At about 25 weeks I was having nightly contractions like you but mine would start at about 5 and last until 11pm. I had a 6 and 7 year olds to get to school and home plus the other running around stuff. My husband was deployed for his 5th time around. I was also dialated to a 2 by that point. At 30 weeks I was a 3 and remained there until the day I had my son. I went to the doc often and they just told me it is ok. They said that it is normal for the 3rd and so on pregnancies to have more BH. I had a hard time explaining to my other 2 why Mama couldn't get off the couch and why they had to make tv dinners for us. But once thye understood they had alot of fun "takking care of Mama". I think that the troules I had actually helped the girls get ready for thier brother. I would say talk to your doctor but not to worry too much. The babies are close together and your body hasn't gotten a change to adjust back after the other pregnancies. Just try not to worry too much. Things will go as they will no matter what you try to do. Good luck and congratulations!

I had similar contractions with my son. It would buckle me over and they started in the 2nd Tri Mester. I had natural childbirth so I know what contractions are like and they are pretty bad, but I also have a high tolerance for pain like my Mom. She had six of us NO DRUGS. I knew I had a high tolerance for pain but I had NO idea that high! Anyway, I am told most women feel it in their back when they a real contractions. I did not and my mom said she did not either. Take a deep breath and don't stress, call your doctor and ask them. It is always best to let them know and get their advice as they know your full medical history and how your pregnancy is going. It is probably nothing, but if it is something I would hate for you to get advice from others and possibly ignore something treatable/manageable. OB's are used to crazy pregnant women asking and doing crazy things and they understand and won't think you are stupid or crazy. Shoot for the last 2 months I was in labor everday in my mind! Boy is my Doc patient! I know I seem to be contradicting myself telling you to calm down and then to call your doc. But you are a Pro, this is your 3rd and if you feel like something could be wrong you certainly need to ask a professional. But don't stress until then, the more you think about it and stress about it the more we amplify things in our own mind and make them worse than they are. And you know these are worse than your last 2 so call. Good Luck and Know All is Well.
