Okay so I am 35 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child.. And like I have been told "every pregnancy is different" and lemme tell ya that couldnt be any more true. I have 2 boys and I had similar things go on. But this time (its a girl) and I feel like this is my first time being prego!!! I donno what is going on or how to control it (if possible). Well obviously I have been doing the right thing to get this far. But I was wondering about the baby "dropping/ lighting". With my boys I carried so low that I NEVER noticed them drop. So being able to tell if she has dropped is a big ol' question for me. I carried a lot higher with this baby then my previouse two... I still feel her in my rib cage.. but the past couple of days I have been able to breath a lot easier, like when I take my boys to the park Im not outta breath when I get there. Also a little TMI, butttttttttttttttttttt im more consitpated and I have to pee a lot more. But when I do go pee its not as much as b4 just a little tinkle here and there but its more frequent. I still have majior heart burn.. But I feel like there is so much pressure in my pelvic area that I am afraid to use the bathroom. lol I am dialated at a 2 right now (I know that I can stay like that for a while) But all in all my question(s) is Am I right about her "dropping"? and if she did drop, with me being 35 weeks and dialated to a 2 is that going to make me go into labor sooner or can I still stay this way up until my due date or after?

What can I do next?

After your first pregnancy, "lightning" doesn't typically occur until labor begins. So it's unlikely that she's dropped and you're not in labor.

So, she's probably just getting heavier, and gravity is pulling everything down now. You can stay dialated like that indefinitely.
I was a 3.5 for 3 weeks, and never went into labor on my own. We would up inducing.
So, sorry to bear the bad news mama, you've still got some "baking" to do!

I'm only 31 weeks pregnant and I saw my doctor yesterday. I told her I was feeling better and she felt around and noted the baby had dropped and his head was very low (I could have told her that, the movement above my pubic bone is weird). I too have to pee every single time I drink, sometimes I rush to the bathroom thinking it's going to be a lot, and then I just wait...and wait...and then there's a tinkle and I'm like "that's it??" I am also suddenly very constipated.

The doctor said there's no way to gauge how long it will be...she did say 2-4 weeks is kind of the guideline but there's such a range that it's hard to say.

I, personally have noticed that me vs. my younger sister (I had 4 girls & she had 2 boyz) she looked as if she had a low lying basketball & I looked like the Pillsbury doughboy! I was just plain FAT until between 5 1/2 & 6 months THEN I finally looked PG with an actual tummy.

With 2 of my girls I was dilated 1 & then 2 for about a week prior to labor, my water NEVER broke except with my 3rd, with my 2nd I had so many probs that it would take a book to get them all down, but she was one of the PG's that I was dilated prior to labor.

We are all different & it's true that mostly each PG is different but I have had one thing go exactly the same with each...I go from 4 to complete in less than 10 minutes!

I wish a speedy & non problematic delivery for you & your DD! Congrats!

This sounds very similar to my pregnancy with my daughter. I was dilated early and dropped much earlier than with my son and I was induced after going over my due date!

with my first I dropped at 30 weeks and delivered at 34 weeks (due to pre-e/hellps, not spontaneous), with my second I dropped by 28 weeks, by 34 I was contracting every 10 minutes around the clock and stalled there at 2cm with constant contractions until an induction at 37w3d, with my third I dropped at 30 weeks, started contracting regularly at 38w4d and was induced at 39w4d.

my inductions were due to my medical issues, nothing was ever related to my actual labor or the baby per se.
