My 3 year old daught was born with gastroschisis and she was in the er the other night for severe cramping and vomiting up blood and boul. They said she had a virus. She has since stopped vomiting but is still complaining of severe stomach cramping. Could something else be wrong? HELP!
if a first opinion doesnt give you the answer you feel comfortable with, get a 2nd and third and fourth if necessary.
vomiting up blood is NOT good, or safe, (i dont think) but i dont know anything about gastroschisis either.
i cant beleive they havent connected you with a specialist!
anyway, i would make another appt with the doctor, and ask him to refer you to another doctor or a specialist. DONT take no for an answer!

I can't think of any time where vomiting up blood is a good thing. Gastroschisis is where the stomach and bowel are formed on the outside of the baby’s belly. So when she was born they did an operation to put them inside her. I'd get her to a pediatric gastroenterologist (who did the surgery on her when she was born?) sooner than possible.
well i think you should get her back into the drs.asap could be more going on-whenever drs.dont have an answer they call it a virus...

Is she hydrated? I'm not familar with gastroschisis, but I do know that lack of hydration can cause cramps and that vomiting dehydrates children faster than adults.
I would call the doctor ASAP. She may be too dehytrated to vomit, but still have the underlying issue.
