Yeah buddy! We have like two diapers left and have been working on potty training since he turned two. He will be 3 on Monday. I do admit it was probably my fault it took so long, I was pregnant and just lazy and figured he would just regress after the baby came. But, we did work on it A LOT. He woke up yesterday with a diaper on, checked his diapers and he only had two left. So, I said today was THE day. I am never putting a diaper on him again, no matter what we have to go through. NO accidents all day. I even put him to bed in his underwears and thought, Id rather wash sheets today than him think its ok to just pee in his diaper. He slept almost 12 hours, no accidents and went straight to the potty when he woke up. GO little man!!
Im so excited to say I wont have a 3 year old in diapers, and that I no longer have 2 kids in diapers! I know there will be accidents here and there, but I think we got this!!

Ok, so my husband is pretty much working all weekend and Im crazy bored and everyone else is out of town having a blast!! I get so bummed on Holiday weekends when we dont have big plans. I think we will get the waterslide out today and run around like monkeys. Just wanted to share my experience with you ladies since I dont have an adult to talk to. Im determined to have a better day than yesterday! Now Im just rambling. lol

What are your big plans for the weekend?

What can I do next?

I know you are excited and I not trying to rain on your parade, seriously. But 24 hours with no accidents does not mean potty trained. Is he asking to go? I would keep a pack of pullups for when he gets sick or has diarhea. Accidents often happen during those times. Potty training should not take a year. With your next child, wait for signs of readiness and you will be able to train her in days or possibly weeks.

great job! I had a four year old daughter that was a night mare to potty train. Our #3 baby was born and i had 3 in diapers. I was fed up and went cold turkey with accidents and problems. Then she never would poo in the potty and i was throwing stacks of panties away in the trash cause i could not stand the nasties around here any longer. I was fixing to give her away when all the sudden she started on her own and there has been one accident in town that i can remember. I feel so light and happy now and just cant believe she finally caught on.\
Sounds like you have it going on!

I must say I am jealous that you are potty training your son so quickly. We've been working on it for a while now, with our 3 yr old (turned 3 in late April). He is just so darn stubborn. I see him every morning walk out of his bed, stand in the doorway or hallway and pee all that night's pee in the diaper. I have explained that we need to put all of that in the potty .... no go. He screams "NoooooooooO!" When I tell him to pee in the potty other times (after I take off an old diaper or before bed or before and after his bath), he does so. But when I put him in underwear, he won't tell me before he pees on the floor or poops in the underwear. I wonder if you're "oops. we're all out of diapers' trick would work. We had planned to go to my grandmas to visit last month and mom said "just "FORGET" the diapers at home and tell him you forgot them. Have one diaper wrapped up in each pair of pjs so he at least has those." So I had diapers hidden and packed underwear. Then plans changed and we had to drive 20 hour drive to California, then 20 hours back. I was kind of glad that he was still in diapers, as we didn't have to stop every 30 minutes to pee.

Anyway - my weekend plans: Dose myself with Vitamin C, drink a whole lot of hot and sour soup, try to rest whenever the 3 yr old 'lets me.' I just got sick and it's not fun. I had big plans to take my son to the local bouncy house and make my friend food (she just had her baby on the first). I think I'm going to have to just take it easy. BORING!

Aaaaaah I remember the days of potty training...so glad that is over with...now my daughters are training THEIR sons!!!
Plans for the weekend...heading to Independence Missouri to tromp through Santi-cali-gon days with the inlaws...not my idea of fun but my MIL has been very ill and this is the first time I have gotten to see her since she started this round of illness....it will be nice to visit with them. Good shoes...an extra ibuprofen for my aching feet and I will be ready to go.

I did that trick last week with my son. He is 3 years and 3 months old and is just stubborn and a little lazy (why go on the potty if Mommy will clean me all up??). So, I just told him NO MORE DIAPERS! He had a ton of accidents the first couple of days, but when I reinforced that he was going to have to use the potty because we weren't putting diapers back on, he has gotten the hang of it. He still has a little trouble pooping on the potty, but is getting the hang of that too. He will sometimes just have a little bit and then realize he's going and stop to go on the potty. He really wanted to go to preschool (I wanted to send him part time), but none of the 3 year old classes would take him until he was potty trained. So, I took him to the school and showed him the classroom with all of the kids playing and he has done a ton better since then and he is starting school tomorrow! Yay! Boys do take longer, although I feel like my son could have done it sooner if I had time to dedicate to it. We just moved from TX to FL and I battled cancer last year, so we've had a lot on our plate and I just didn't have the time or energy to dedicate to it. Now that we're settled, I decided it was time and he's almost there and it only took a week! Hope your little one continues to do well with it. Good luck!
