Hello Everyone! My daughter's 1st Birthday party is this Saturday. I planned to have it at home and just have cake and ice cream or cake and applesauce. But now with it closer to the date a few mothers of my guests are asking about games?????? At one, do they really play games? I know my daughter likes to dance and toss a ball back and forth, but she doesn't really play games.I hope this question makes sense...I guess what I am really asking.....Do you play games at the 1st b-day party? If so, what type of games do you play? I have an older child, but at her party it was only family and we didn't play games.

What can I do next?

Hey
For my daughter first b day we had a few older kids, but I did not plan a lot of "games" because I wanted it more about her. However I did have a bubble machine that all the kids loved and I had a bunch of different sized balls that I just left around the room, incase they wanted to play with them.Alot of the kids would roll the balls back in forth to the smaller kids. They all had fun and she passed out before everyone left.

It's not so much about games really its about the activities - the getting up moving around and doing something with the kids. If it is nice that day I would suggest the park and if it isnt and you still want it at your house then try some "Games" with balls. Having them sit in a circle and roll the ball to each other, or playing something with sounds or animals. If these dont sound good to you or your not getting any other ideas from this then try talking to the other moms of the kids your inviting and getting some of their input. I am sure at least a few have some suggestions. As for play dates I have a almost 8 yr old son and a almost 3 yr old daughter but if you are wanting to do that I would definately be up for it - my email is ____@____.com ty and good luck - V.

Honestly a 1 year old has no clue as to what is going on except probably wondering why everyone is so happy and giving him boxes wrapped in paper. My son's first birthday is next Thursday...Thanksgiving Day! So we're incorporating his birthday party with the holiday. I am going to make a cake just for him in the shape of a one (mini cake of course) and sit it on his highchair tray and let him have at it. I personally do not think games are necessary, but if there are other children there then it would be fun for them.
Have fun!
