Hi All:
Recently, I gave my daughter some Mango and she broke out into a rash on her chest. I'm assuming it's an allergy. While the rash has subsided (no redness), her skin has not fully recovered. her skin is still bumpy and not soft and smooth. Are there any suggestions I can use to get her skin back on track?

What can I do next?

In 1980, my newborn rashed from penicillin. Nightmare. Heat lamps, ointments, suffering and crying for dyas each time he urinated and got it wet. After 5 days my sister in law heard aboutit and gave me a remedy I use today...Dr. has been giving out for 27 years since: Take an egg. Separate it. Beat the white with fork till foamy. Use cotton or gauze to dab on rash.Air dry.(blow on it or cool haidryer)
Stops itch. Pulls down rash. Heals. Uses: poison ivy, bra rash, diaper rash, bites, poxes, measles....ALL Skin Eruptions!!!!!! A miracle indeed. Bathe it off at night with oatmeal or goats milk soap. then apply again after bath.

It just takes time. Her body will heal itself as long as the allergen is kept away. I am allergic to mangoes too, it is such a sad allergy cause they are so delicious. In the meantime, try a hypoallergenic lotion like aveeno and apply 2x a day.

Mango is in the poision ivy family and she just may be allergic to it. ask a dermotologist how long a mango rash should last and watch out the next time she eats a mango or NOT. good luck

My daughter got a rash from a lotion I put on her - while the redness went away in a day, it took over a month for the bumpiness to go away, which is normal, per my doctor. I would guess that is true for rashes from food allergies too. Just keep applying Aquaphor (or any lotion that you know your daughter is not allergic to) and have patience. Baby skin is so tender, it takes awhile for it to heal.

Hi S.,
My daughter is also very sensitive to EVERYTHING, so my doctor recommended Aquaphor. I have the oinment, which is greasy, but I'm pretty sure there's a cream too. It works wonders - after only a day her bumps, rash, whatever is gone! Good luck!

FYI - mango is related to cashew. My daugther is allergic to mango also and does ok with cashew, but I would be careful about cashews until you know for sure.

Aveeno works for us, too.

Good luck.
