Who Sacrificed Their husband....show of Hands Please!

I'll admit it.
The thought of going to the grocery store on the day before a holiday just gives me the heebie jeebies.
After work, when my husband mentioned he had to drop off money to our friend for some carpentry work done this week, I immediately said "Oh good! Then you can just swing by the grocery store!"
(Hey, I needed fresh green beans and slivered almonds for my dish for dinner tomorrow at my brother's house!)
Poor little Sacrificial Lamb...he never saw it coming.
When he got home, I casually said "How was the store?"
His reply? "DON'T ASK! CRAZY!"
I knew that.
Have you ever done this?

my husband is goofy like that, he will go anytime of day or night or holiday eve, without moaning......now if he was only as easy going about doing the dishes, i would have it made

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Nope, love him too much to do that... plus his mom did all the shopping and then lovingly dropped off the ingredients I needed for my dish contributions ... LOVE HER! So, I am cooking but not paying for it :) ... yes I have the hook up on the MIL (for the most part).

Guilty here.

But have only pulled this O. off once, b/c he remembered the next time what it was like at the store the day before Thanksgiving.

It's fun to be sly....so let me know if you're ever successful again.

Your post just cracked me up!! Would have loved to but he is too smart for that.

Although I will admit to doing other similar type things, of which I can't think of at the moment.

Hopefully he has a renewned appreciation for your trips to the grocery store.

I went to Costco today with a 10 month old, 6 year old, and a 9 year old. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Unfortunately for me, my husband works too late to be able to send to the store. And, even if I could...he would buy things HE wants as opposed to things I NEED!!! Good thing you brought home chips honey...now where's the milk and bread?

Hi O.-

Yes...I did it yesterday.....

Poor pete!!

I KNEW I needed milk. We were down to the last half gallon. I drank my coffee black in an effort to conserve milk...But I knew that 'someone' was going to have to venture out...After all, the kiddos are all here for T day.

***sigh***

I was watching "gone with the wind" - my all time favorite movie....(little did he know it was going to repeat ALL DAY LONG). I busied myself with embroidery too to 'add' to my little 'performance'...I even recited dialogue with the movie.

He casually offered...I mildly protested....he (being the kind naive soul that he is offered again, saying, 'you're there working on the x mas project - and watching your FAV movie...I'll go'

I said OK

He came home...had little to say...we had dinner...he went to bed...

He is still sleeping!!

I am thinking I should make breakfast in bed for him...

But did you know that the 1949 version of 'little women' is on TCM this morning at 8 am?? And I still have all that embroidery...

I have when I am in the middle of cooking. It's the job someone can do without a lot of expertise.

Sure did! Yesterday, I forgot O. little thing for dinner last night and sent my husband... same scenario (except you were more sympathetic I think, I was snickering in the corner as he was leaving)... took him 40 minutes to make what usually would have been an 8 minute round trip, poor thing!

I justified this by reminding myself that I do 98% of all the errand running, so he's just making up for that all in O. day ;)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I had all the ingredients except the evaporated milk in the mixing bowl for pumpkin pie. I started to pour in the milk and it was BAD! I had organic pumpkin and sugar in the raw all ruined!
So my poor husband went off to the store. We could not do without pumpkin pie. But he said there was only O. person in line in front of him to check out.

My husband volunteered to stop by store on the way home from work yesterday.
He got a few things we needed for the mulled cider punch but mostly he got snacks, dips, chips and such.
He said it wasn't bad.
Most of the major feast shoppers had come and gone and all that was left were the (mostly guys) who were picking up last minute items.

Well, tonite I was supposed to get my hair done & then go grocery shopping, but my sitter no-showed. Kinda worried about her--she's normally pretty reliable, but the past few weeks have been spotty.

So, the 3 kids and I ended up going to Target together. Wasn't NEARLY as bad as I was expecting it to be, mostly because they had already prepared for Black Friday and had taped arrows on the floors to show people which way to walk down the aisles--amazingly smooth flow!!

Thank God we had all our shopping done on Tuesday!! Whew!!

Now, I'm guilty of sending him to the store on random nights/days for stuff...but nope, whew - not on a holiday weekend. I'm sure at some point in our lives/marriage I will...but luckily, no, not yet.

I didn't my husband... but I did my dad :)

Yesterday, He said if I give him a grocery list he will pick up the food and then I just have to cook it. I tried to tell him since we werent having dinner until Sunday... it would be best to wait until Saturday. He didn't want to make a trip back ( its a 45 min drive to the store), he was there and he was getting it then.....

Atleast I tried to warn him. lol He called me when he got home and said " Im NEVER doing that again, next time I will give you a check and you go get it yourself" I laughed so hard as he was telling me his horror story of shopping ( doesn't help he is new to grocery shopping also).

My hubby works from home and usually asks if I need anything. He did run out yesterday to the supermarket, but it is not usually too bad here. Most of the people around here are on vacation and/or from other countries so they are just getting the basics.
When we lived in PA that was a whole other story. People would be buying stuff like the store wasn’t going to be opened for days and days. We wouldn't go anywhere near the supermarkets the day before Thanksgiving.

we live 2 blocks from a walmart so i am there plenty...didn't end up having to do the "last minute" thing this year, thank goodness!

Don't forget about our wonderful kids that drive - like Michele. My daughter does 85% of the grocery shopping for us anyway so if I needed something she would just give me a smirk and go...no complaints. I love that young lady!!!

I have the husband will not be sacrificed.

We needed to go get some stuff for over the week on Monday....He was like ''um, I can handle not having anything in the house for the next couple of days, I am not touching the store''.

Thanks Jerky....

I got to hit the store, and the crowd in front of the milk case was soooo gigantic I turned around and thought to myself..''They can have DRY cereal for breakfast this week!!''

Did you realize that buying a Turkey means the checker can take four times a long checking someone out....seeing as NONE of the turkey barcodes were working...AND everyone in front had at least O. bird!

GO VEGETARIANS:)

Sadly I think I have tried to pull this trick O. too many times. So now I have to suck up my bootstraps and go myself:(

It is ok though...I have survived every time:)

Love you Lady!

Have a GREAT Thanksgiving!
