Who Is the Best Reproductive Dr. in the Metroplex for IVF on 41 Yr Old Mom?

We've done 3 IUI's which have been unsuccessful and are moving onto the IVF, but I'm wondering if a different doctor would make a difference? Websites say that statistics that are published are not based on standardized criteria, so you are really comparing apples to oranges if you compare rates for one vs. another. I'm feeling very down and desperate that it's not going to happen again for us and that time has run out. How do you stay positive? Any suggestions appreciated!

K.,

I had a friend in her 40s who did 8 IUI's before finally switching fertility docs. She ended up at the Sher Institute http://www.haveababy.com/?dallas and has gorgeous twin girls (on the first try). She couldn't say enough good things about them. I think they have free seminars you can attend to see what you think of them. Good luck!

Dr. Douglas helped me deliver 2 sets of twins. I went to another dr at Baylor for one try because I was part of an experimental program and had to use doctors specified in the program. That dr was not able to get me pregnant. Back to Dr. Douglas, and wah-lah, first try with in-vitro. Dr. Douglas has a wonderful, caring staff. I can't recommend him highly enough. I also had 3 IUI's with no success at 40. I assumed the problem was due to my age, not the doctor's ability. as you know, each year that goes by means a tougher time at getting pregnant and carrying a healthy baby to term. It happens; I had twins at 43 and 46, but it was not an easy journey. Good luck to you.

Another vote for Dr. Goldstein at Baylor Frisco. We have been very happy with him and his office.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brian Barnett who is at Presbyterian Plano. I am one of those special cases diagnosed with unexplained infertility and have been through 2 cycles of IVF as well as 1 frozen cycle. We decided to go straight to IVF to maximize our chances. After 5 years we finally had our miracle daughter 3 months ago. Dr. Barnett is caring, compassionate and has some of the highest success rates in the area. Whichever doctor you choose, make sure you look at their success rates. I would also ensure the doctor is board certified in Infertility. LOTS of OB's claim to specialize in fertility but trust me, don't waste time going down that route, go directly to the experts.

I like both Dr. Rodriquez and Dr. Douglas at Presb. Plano. I went to Douglas for my 1st (got pg w/last IUI before IVF) and Dr. Rodriquez for #2 (got pg naturally right before starting treatments). They both have a great record for IVF successes and have a great set up for infertility there at Presb.

Dr. Alfred Rodriguez is a wonderful doctor with a great staff. He delivered both of my daughters then went to strictly doing infetility. (I was so sad when he did as I had to find another ob/gyn.) I went to him for nearly 15 years. He is at Plano Presby.
