White Gold Ring Turning Yellow

My white gold wedding ring is starting to yellow. Does anyone know where I can get it "redipped" so it can look new again? The place we bought it is out of business. Also, how much does this normally cost? My friend in Austin got hers redone and it only cost her $40. I have no idea if this is a good deal or not.

I prefer the Plano/Frisco area. Thanks!

I go to Jared's on Preston Rd in Frisco and have them re-rhodium my white gold ring.
$40 is about the amount I pay them.

There really is no such thing as "white" gold - all gold (under 24K) is mixed with alloys - white gold is mixed with white metals to make it look white - and then is plated with rhodium. Most jewelers that do repairs on-site will be able to rhodium plate it for you - and it should be less than $50. You might have to do this every few years - esp. since rings take a beating and spend so much time in soapy water, etc. Jared's is a pretty good place to go as they have several jewelers on-site and the turn-around time is usually pretty quick.

I take mine to Gold'n'Karats in North Irving, on MacArthur just south of 635. I don't know what they charge, but after hearing horror stories of my friends' diamonds being stolen and replaced with inferior quality when they had their rings resized at big chain jewelry stores, I would never take my ring anywhere else. At Gold'n'Karats they are quick, professional, and most of all trustworthy. No, I don't work for them, I've just been so happy with them!

I have mine done every 6 months- but we bought a warranty so the jeweler covers the charge for life. I think it does cost about 40-50 dollars. The process is called Rodium plating and you will be amazed how great your ring looks after doing it!

yeah that's what happens with white gold. All white gold will yellow with time. I was actually told to get it redipped every 6 months but I usually do it once a year. I go to Jensen's which is where I got my ring and they charge I think around $30. But I think most places will charge around $30 to $40. But you will love how new and shiny your ring will look afterward so go do it. :)

You can take it to any jeweler. Most places will have to send it out to be plated. I just had mine done at Zales and it was only about $40. I can't remember the exact cost since I had a few other things done at the same time.

I paid $38 at Kay Jeweler in Stonebriar. I just got it back yesterday and it looks brand new. I haven't found a place cheaper so I'm assuming around $40 is good. It took less than 2 weeks.
