Which Boy Name Would You Choose?

I feel like I constantly have naming questions, but my husband and I have our boy list narrowed down to 5 names. We like each of them in different ways, and are having a hard time deciding which ones we like best. It may all be for naught (since we don't find out what we are having for 3 more weeks), but we like going in having a decent idea. Our son's name is Austin, so it needs to flow well with that, and our last name starts with an H and is two syllables. Here is our list:

-Carson
-Carter
-Elliot
-Everett
-Owen

I know many of you will have names that you like as well, but honestly, I am just looking for which of these 5 you like best (as it has taken us way too long to get to this point).

Thanks so much ladies!

EDIT: We are still debating on a middle name. We have Andrew and David (familial names) as possibilities, but are willing to switch if they don't work with the first! Sorry about that!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

You all are fabulous! We decided that our top 3 favorite names (in no particular order) are Carter, Elliot, Everett. Since we are at a standstill as to which one we like best, we have decided to just wait it out at this point to see if we are even having another little man! I loved reading everyone's responses though...it definitely helped us realize that our choices weren't too crazy out there! Thanks again for all of the help!!! (And feel free to keep them coming if you haven't responded yet!)

EDITED: We are indeed having another little boy! We have decided that his name is going to be Carter David!

I like:
1. Everett David
2. Carter Andrew

I would look to see if any of the names are on last year's "top 100" boys names. I like the name Carter, but I have a nephew named carter. It also seems pretty popular at least around here. The more popular a name, the more likely they'll end up in classes with several kids who have the same name. That can get kind of annoying, so if you are on "the fence" between names you may want to pick the LESS popular name so he wont be "Carter H." all of the time (for example).

Either way they are all nice names and I don't especially dislike any of them!

Good Luck and Congrats!

Not crazy about any of the first names except I do like Carter. One of the things you might consider is what will the initials of his name spell when all is said and done. for example if your last name is rogers and you name him elliot andrew rogers, his initials spell ear, if or carson it would be car, etc. it will likely become tease fodder when he is older

I love so many of the names you have chosen! But I think out of all of them, Owen will be the best choice. My reasons: it goes fabulously with Austin, will go great with your last name, is adorable, yet takes him into adulthood well, and Owen David sounds just perfect. Good luck!

Carson Andrew or Carson David is nice and flows well and Carson and Austin sound good together.

Carter sounds good with all of the above too.

Elliot Andrew and Elliot David doesn't sound 'as good' or as good with Austin and Elliot"

Everet is same...Everet Andrew not so much, Everet David no so much, but sounds OK with Everet and Austin as brothers.

Owen is over-used lately so I would not use that name but it is a nice name. Owen Andrew is OK, Owen David is OK too but not as good and flowing as Carson or Carter.

Keep in mind that you have laid out choices for us so of course we can say some sound better than others, that will always be the case, grass is always greener. Whatever YOU like and choose will sound good and flow.
Our kids go by their middle names b/c it flowed better in that order so even reversing the names and having David or Andrew first might sound better and you can call them by thier middle name if it flows better that way....ie
David Carson
Andrew Carter

congrats to you!

I like Everett, it was actually on my list for the baby I will have on Monday, but hubby didn't love it. It is my preference partially because I don't think it is as popular as some of the other names you have listed and I don't like the idea of my kid being one of three Liams (or whatever) in his class. They are all good choices though. Good luck!

I like Carson and Elliot. Carson b/c it also ends with an 'n,' just like Austin. My sons names all end with 'n,' so I really like that theme. However, I am partial to Elliot b/c my son's middle name is Elliott. Austin and Elliot sound great together, since they both start with vowels. So I say Carson or Elliot, but I'm leaning toward Elliot (I spell my son's name with two t's at the end).

First of all, congratulations! Isn't picking out names so much fun?! Since you are wanting opinions, I would have to vote for Everett or Elliott. I agree with having to know the last name to hear how it will sound! Like if your last name is Hanson then Carson is out, or if it has a hard t sound Carter won't sound as good, but here are my favorite combos, in order by favorite first!

Carson David
Eliott Andrew
Carter Andrew
Owen Andrew
Everett Andrew

Elliot means 'the lord is my God'
Carter means 'cartmaker or driver'

Everett David gets my vote! And I love the nickname Rhett!
