My husband and I just bought our first house. Yay! We are going to have to buy blinds for the windows. Where is a good place to go or order from? We are on a budget too.

Thanks!

We got faux wood blinds (they are plastic but look like wood, painted white) from Lowes - they look good, work fine and were inexpensive (relatively).

Also - second JC Penny for cheap window coverings. We got Roman shades on sale and with a coupon and they were super cheap.

I'd recommend Budget Blinds. budgetblinds.com
They do custom work as most windows are not standard and even can be off here and there by an inch or two.
(nothing looks worse than getting something cut somewhere else and then have it not properly fit your windows -- or anywhere else for that matter!) ;-)
They have woven woods, which look really good, and offer a LOT more than blinds, such as shutters, roman shades, motorized shades, etc.
They can work with your budget.
They also have some good deals and relationships with major suppliers such as Hunter Douglas.
Remember when you get an estimate, compare apples to apples. A lot of times what Budget Blinds offers is of better quality and features, like warranties. They also come to your home which is convenient as well as you're able to see how something looks.
Big box places SEEM to have better deals, but then you work with middle men installers, etc. Even JCPenney custom's quality isn't as good as Budget Blinds, or their selection.
Good luck!

Just don't go with Empire! Horrible experience and ugly blinds.

I went with Home Depot after interviewing 3 Day Blinds and another company that came out. I think HOme Depot was cheaper because their sales people don't come to your house with samples. You have to go into the store....

Lowes or Home Depot carries a nice selection and they both also offer installation services. I got the Levolor blinds from Lowes and they can cut them to fit your windows.

I used a King's Drapes for Less in Mesquite and they were great folks and took the best care of me. It is a husband/wife owned business and they really care about what they do. That said, it's a long way for you to go. Lowes has custom blinds and their prices seem reasonable. They also have some paper accordion shades that you could use while custom blinds are being made for really cheap. Congratulations on your home!

You can check out blinds.com

We recently got some nice Levolor cellular shades for a few windows at Lowes. Like this:

I'm very happy with them. And no cords! They look nice & neat.

Lowes has some in stock. Just make sure to measure correctly.

Bed Bath and Beyond has window treatments, but learn how to measure to get the right size. Penney's have good selection and run sales and usually have professionals to help. You can do "homework", check in the departments for learning how to measure and what types. Interior decorators do custom work and can give estimates, but are pricey. For standard size windows, you can find some at Walmart, K-Mart.

The internet shows many sites under window blinds.
Congratulations on having a new home!

Try JCPenney. I've gotten some great deals on blinds on their website. If you need something custom, wait for them to have a 1/2 off sale in the store.

My favorite is JCPenny and if you watch for their sales you can generally get a good deal. I usually see 60-65% off sales.

CONGRATULATIONS on your first house!!!

We got the whole house set with faux wood blinds for $900 (including the sliding glass door blinds) at home depot. That price included the price of the blinds and instillation but I shortened them all myself because they wanted like $32 a blind to shorten them to fit the window better. Shortening is easy with the availability of internet videos)
