Wow, I would think she could deliver at Scottsdale/Osborn as well. I had two kids at the Scottsdale /Osborn hospital and it was a pleasant experience. They have a new woman center that I havent seen yet as well. I decided to stay closer to home with my 3rd (due to kids flying out faster than Drs. can catch ) and went to Scottsdale/Shea and I liked it but I perfered the Osborn hospital more. My OB is great, Dr. Jean Moon with Valley OBGYN right next to the Osborn hospital and also an office next to the Shea hospital. I have been going to her for 10 years. Congrats on the Pregnancy!

Scottsdale Shea is a great hospital to deliver at. The rooms are all private and very spacious. I'm not sure how new they acutally are, but they seem very new. There is an area for dad to sleep overnight too, and the rooms are bright and airy. The nursing staff is great.

Scottsdale Shea is a really nice place to deliver. I had my daughter there. We liked the surroundings, the pleasant atmosphere, the flexible visiting hours, the large rooms, and most of all the fact that your child can remain with you until you check out unless you request otherwise. However, the downsides...I DID NOT GET ANY SLEEP AT ALL because the nurses wake you up to "check on you and/or baby" every 1/2 hour ALL day and even throughout the night because they would have a shift change and their regular schedule. Every time I finally passed out from exhaustion (my husband went home to sleep), they would come in to wake me up. The other downside was it was pretty expensive.

Nichelle Whitehead is a wonderful OB/GYN in the area. ###-###-####. I would suggest meeting with her. She is all about educating moms! She attends births at Good Sam in Central Phoenix. Did you have a doula with your first baby? I would also recommend having a doula with you at your birth. This kind of support can make all the difference. You can look up doulas at www.AZbirthnetwork.com.
Good Luck.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Dairiki, her staff and Scottsdale Shea hospital. It was everything I thought it would be having my little one. Throughout my pregnacy and during the delivery she and the hospital made me feel safe, comfortable and heard. If I had any concerns, questions or issues it was answered or resolved without any problems.
The hospital stay was more pleasant than other stories I have heard from other family and friends. I got my own personal room in which you deliver in and the baby stays with you. They even have classes and tours at the hospital just check their website to find times and dates. If you have any other questions about either one just let me know.

I see DR Tami Dairiki & she is very good. I just got out of the hospital (for surgery) Sunday at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea, everything went great. I did not deliver at this hospital due to extremely early labor, Dr Dairiki sent me to Phoenix Perinatal Associates-who specialize in high risk pregnancies. I was in the hospital from 22 weeks. My son is 2 &1/2 now & only came 6 wks early. I hope this helps! Good luck.

Kristy,

Scottsdale Shea is supposed to be wonderful. I delivered at Scottsdale Osborn at the birthing center and it was a great experience. They even offer pedicures in your room!!! The nurses were great and the baby stays with you the whole time. The will come in and give a bottle if you need more sleep. It was a very "family experience" we didn't feel like we were in a hospital. Brittney Spears was supposed to have her 1st baby at Scootsdale Shea.

I've heard that Scottsdale Shea has been known to treat some people poorly (kind of an up-turned nose thing), but I don't know from experience. I had a c-section at Scottsdale Osborn and at Chandler. Both were great. Scottsdale Osborn was a bit pushy about taking my son for hearing tests and shots, which my husband and I didn't want, but I think it was just the one nurse....the on call pediatrician was very supportive of our choice. The nurse kept saying, "I have to take your baby now". Like there was no stopping her, she actually tried to grab him! It was kind of funny...she was very serious.

Anyway, good luck and welcome to the States!!!

I delivered my first son at Scottsdale Shea. (By the way, this is only one place) I highly recommend it. Some people refer to it as a resort like place to have a baby. The food is great, the rooms are great and so are the nurses. You can even get a manicure/pedicure done! I, unfortunately, had to deliver my second son at Paradise Valley in Phoenix. It was awful all the way around. They have group tours of the OB area. Check it out!
