Hi ladies!
My husband adn I had our first sonogram a week ago. During the sonogram, teh lady never offered us to tape the video or to listen at the baby's heart frequency rate. I am from South America, and when I spoke to my freidns donwn there they ALL told me that they are offered to bring a blank DVD so they can record the video of teh sonogram for you, they give you the prints and they let you hear teh baby's heart rate. So, please let me know if you had the chance to tape the sonogram and listen to the heart rate. Also, please let me know where Ic an go and get a sonogram done (at my own expenses) so I can hear my baby's heart.

What can I do next?

I wasn't offered a video but I did get lots of pictures and to listen to the heart beat. There are several companies that specialize in 3-D ultrasounds for fun. They have lots of packages with videos and pictures and other keepsakes. This is one of them

Hi,

My doctor sent me to the San Francisco Perinatal Associates. Their offices were right off Van Ness in SF. The sonogram was amazing - they recorded video, sound, still photos and 3-D/4-D photos on to a CD Rom for us to take home. We also listened to the heartbeat and watched everything on flat screen TVs. The staff there was great and I highly recommend the office. Best of luck.

Hi M.,
I am sorry to hear about your experience with your Ultrasound so far. I would recommend California Pacific Medical Center. I happen to work in the Radiology Dept. and can assure you, the Ultrasound technologists are very good and they will definitely give you either video or dvd of the ultrasound. I myself had my pregnancy care in the eastbay (wasn't great either), I didn't want to have to cross the bridge in labour :-) Let me know, if you need more infos.

Maria,
There have been recent studies that show that an ultrasound may be detrimental to the developing fetus. When the baby is old enough to hear, it's so high pitched that it may even slightly damage the ear drums. There are also sound waves that may irritate the cells of the baby. I know this might sound frustrating, but I would recommend researching it a bit more before having another one so soon. Just trust your instincts that your baby is doing just fine.

Congrats and good luck!
