I wouold NOT give anything with aspertame. (spell?) I won't drink it anymore myself.
Water, gatorade, juicy juice ( watered down) My 3 yr old DD loves lemon water. :-) I let my kids have lemonade, but as a treat.

Personally, I would never give my little one anything with artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, or partially hydrogenated oils. I find juices that are 100% juice and heavily dilute them with water. You can always do your own research on artificial sweeteners as well as HFCS and partially hydrogenated oils.

Hi J.,
Usually diet drinks have the artificial sweetners in it, and I would talk with your pediatrician about giving your little one diet drinks. I wouldn't think that artificial sweetners are good for toddlers/children in general. Let me know if you talk with your doctor and what he/she says about it. :-) G.

If it contains aspartame then I would not give it to your toddler at all. All artificial sweetners really aren't recommended for kids. My daughter loved the flavored water from wal-mart and I saw that there was aspartame in it so I called her pediatrician and she told me not to give her any artificial sweetners. I also found this website and it really made my mind up. Hope this helps! http://www.sweetpoison.com/

i am not sure about diet v8 but i do know that most diet products have aspertame in them... its used instead of sugar and there is a big controversy as to whether it causes brain tumors, headaches and possibly cancer. i would stick away from anything with aspertame in it!

If your daughter was diabetic, then best bet is to ask her pediatrician about what she can/can't drink vs giving her anything diet right now.

My son is 3.5 and he only likes full strength oj (low acid). We still dilute the apple juice 6oz water and 2oz apple juice. He won't drink plain water.

I believe everything in moderation. I don't think adults should be drinking a bunch of drinks with artificial sweetners, let alone all the sugar we ingest, but I don't think a little every now & again will hurt them. Have you tried the V8 Splash that is 33% less sugar (but not diet). I think it's really good. And don't forget milk. They can have skim, 1 or 2% after 2 years old.
