What Products Work Best for 9 Month Old with Eczema and Dermatitis
My 9 month old has battled Eczema since the day he was born and I have tried EVERYTHING over the counter with very little success. I am now using prescription Hydrocortisone 2.5% and am still not having luck getting it to go away, not to mention that I can't use it on his face. I am also struggling with his fingers and chin right now because he is teething and sucks his fingers as comfort, so his little chin and fingers are red and chapped from all the moisture. Any products that you would recommend?

Hi J., my daughter had eczema as a young child (2-3)years old and I too tried everything under the sun. The only thing that worked was Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream. I know it sounds ridiculous but, I had been using it as a lip cream cause my lips would get so chapped. I used it on my daughter in the morning, at night and after baths. The dry patches in the crook of her elbows completely went away. It really works.

My daughter had eczema really bad when she was a baby. We would bathe her (Johnson products are really bad on their little skin by the way) and then while she was still wet, slather Eucerin cream (the really goopy stuff) all over her. It worked really well. My son didn't have it quit as bad and we were able to just use Aquaphor. My daughter is now 9 and we battle it occasionally but the Eucerin is what works the best for us.

We got a product off of the internet that a babysitter recommended. It is called FreeDerm and it worked really well for us. Someone else recommended Ellidel, but I would really read about that before trying it. I was too scared to put it on my baby. Also get allergy tested. We learned a lot from that doctor.

I have eczema and so do my younger two. I use Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream (it's in a stand up green tube). You can find it at most stores(walmart,kroger,etc.). At first use it up to three times a day, and then at night. FYI: it is kinda greasy. We use to call our girls "little grease balls". GOOK LUCK!

My little girls had eczema until she was 1 yr. she had red rashes all over the entire year. I finally took her to a Pediatric Allergist (Dr. Vanwagner - who was wonderful and several of my friends now use him for their kids too). He did a pin prick test (we thought her's was a milk allergy) but he put her on singulair (we added it to her bottle/later sippy of milk) and also zyrtec for itching and either these two perscriptions really did the trick or it was timing and she just grew out of it...all we knew was this was the first time in her life she had clear, soft normal baby skin....we could not believe our eyes...hope this helps...

Melaleuca has a GREAT lotion that I have seen work on many of my friends kids and my mom. It only took about a week for the back of my friends 18 month old to clear up she puts it on her regularly and hasn't had any issue's with it so far. I can get you a sample of it if you want me to see if it will help you!!! Send me a message and I will be glad to help!!!

I went thru the same things with my ds when he was a baby. I see that you have gotten a lot of great advice. A couple of more would be to wash all of his bedding in hot water and use a detergent like All Free and Clear. Put covers on all of his pillows and mattress. You should ask about Protopic. It is not a steriod cream and you can use it on the face. My ds was in the study the day he turned two. Now they prescribe it for little ones. Another thing is nice long baths two or three times a day. As soon as he gets out of the tub slather him up with lotion, within three minutes is the suggestion. We all know that may be a little hard, but the fastest you can with a little one.
Hugs,
K.

Hi J., I am a customer of a wonderful health and wellness company who has a wonderful lotion for Dermatitis and eczema it actually beat eucerin in a blind study test which is the #1 dermatologist preferred brand it is so soothing and healing and best of all safe no harsh chemicals! The key too w/ that is switching your detergents and soaps and even the cleaners that clean the bathtub overall switching your home to safer products because all those chemicxals we get from the store are so harmful in many ways. This will actually save you money and one of the best parts is it comes right to your door! All their products have a 60 day money back guarantee and i have personal experience w/ athma and eczema so i can tell you it works! They have everything you buy at the store and none of their products contain harsh chemicals. If you would like to find out how to get this I can give you more detail. Email me directly at ____@____.com or you can give me a call ###-###-#### I hope if you are not interested in this which i'm sure you are willing to try anything to help your baby but if not I hope you find what it is you are looking for to help your baby! Good luck! Hope to hear from you.

Aquaphor is the only thing that works for my 2 year old. I'm sure you have probably already tried that so I am gonna suggest what a doc told my friend for her daughters SEVERE eczemaabout a year ago. Original, white Crisco. It is noting but fat and the moisture saoks in completely. I thought she was full of it, but it worked. her daughter is almost 4 and has essentially clear skin. food allergies don't help her.
