Hello ladies! I was wondering if anyone can help me with finding out what is going on with my body? It's about my monthly.I am 29 years old and I have always been regular until I had my last child 2 years ago. Ever sinse then my periods have been in between 33-40 days apart and 7-8 days long, I have even missed a couple in between. Now the past 3 months my periods have been only 23 days apart and only 3-5 days long. Is this a normal part of getting "older", or should I be going to my OB to find out whats going on?

What can I do next?

I second the progesterone cream. It's over-the-counter, safer than taking synthetic hormone (progestin), and relatively inexpensive to boot. I would have seen a doc, but ended up not needing to after beginning the progesterone cream.
Some tips:
The progesterone cream needs to be USP, in an opaque container, and allows for regular dosing without exposing the remaining cream to the air (pump is best).
HTH!

29 is not old! Ask your doc at your next annual exam. It's probably normal but he/she would be the one to know for sure.

Blessings,

I haven't heard of that before but I have learned one thing: Anything abnormal to you and your body should be expressed to your doctor; in this case, gynecologist.

YOu would not believe how subtle the signs are that can lead to an early and more timely diagnosis of a serious problem that could have been treated earlier and easier.

On a side note: if you start losing weight, even just a pound a month, and you're not really doing anything different in your eating habits -- or if you're pushing food away before you would normally be done -- count that as one huge danger sign for cancer. Another is a small discomforting pain or ache. Another is night sweats if you're not in the middle of menapause. Things you might not say to yourself is worth a doctor visit (even one right after an annual physical); BUT IT IS.

I have never had very regular cycles, but after having my daughter they became even more erratic. My doctor suggested having my thyroid checked, and it turns out that I had developed hypothyroidism, a fairly common thing for postpartum women. Bottom line, you should let your doctor know what's going on with your body.

Yes, I think it is normal. You have three kids, the youngest is now mobile and much more active and also needs much more 'proactive' attention = stress. If it would make you more comfortable, you should go to your doctor.

I'm having the same issues...My daughter is also 2. I went to my dr a few months ago because my cycle was lasting over 51 days. She gave me progesterone for 10 days and reset my cycle. I had a 4 day period and 21 days later started again... I have no idea what is going on, but give me a shout if you get any insight. I'm currently trying to get pregnant with our second, but this is not helping.

Before I had my first child at 22, my cycle was so consistent that I knew not only the day, but the hour it would start. After having my son, I nursed for 20 months and my period didn't come back until 4 months after I weened him. I had my 2nd child at 25 and had to ween her @ 7 months bc I wasn't producing enough. But my period didn't come back for another 3-4 months after that. Then it was extremely weird. Like I would get spotting after 10 days, spot for 5 days then have 5 days light period and 4 days "normal". It took 3 years of this to start leveling back out. I'm pretty consistent now. So my advice is that given LOTS of time it will even out. Your dr. will probably suggest birth control to "even it out" but I opted out of that.

Trust this 57 yr old mom of 5-you ain't that old. See your doctor. After pregnancy-even a couple of years-I found it took a while to get the monthly clock fully back on track. But if there is out-of-the-ordinary pain or any other symptom, call the doc and find out what's going on. Later

I have never been regular, before or after kids. But if you were regular before and are now not, I would strongly recommend that you talk to you doctor. I know some people who have gone through the "change" as young as you. But your doctor will be the one who will know what is going on.
