What Have You Done That You Are Proud Of?

I was at the gym this morning (at 5:30!) and a song came on my ipod that totally took me back to when I ran a marathon (1 year and a half ago). I just got to thinking how proud I am of myself for checking that Bucket list item off! Its something I always wanted to do (though I have never been a runner), crazy, I know. Then my hubby and I decided to just do it. :)

It got me thinking about all you wonderful ladies. We take so much time and care and concern for everyone around us and rarely take time for ourselves. So, I want to ask you all to take a minute and tell us all about something that you have done for yourself that you are proud of or that you are working towards now!

What can I do next?

Thankful for my 3 kids and my husband.

Very proud of myself b/c after my last child was born in june 2009,i haven't lost my pregnancy weight as I did the first 2 children. I got blood work back and show my thyroid(thyroid disease) was function as it was supposed to be.(I had 20 extra pounds on from him). Bascially the first day of december of 2010. I had enough with myself and how i looked. I had to do look up exactly how many calories I was supposed to eat.(People who have thyroid disease can easy gain weight even if they eat less,so bascially I had to do my research first)

So now its been 8 in a half months and lost a total of 25 pounds!!! Yea it took a lot longer b/c of my disease, but I do treat myself one day out of the month and eat whatever that day. :) And came down a extra 5 pounds and counting....lol. :)

I got accepted to a highly competitive nursing program and will finish in 2 years. My lifelong dream, put on hold early in my adulthood but now is coming true through hard work and lots of support from my awesome husband.

Parachuted once. Eeek. Crazy.

Traveled Europe twice. Loved it. Best time, best memories.

Picked up a dog on the freeway that had been hit (leg was hanging off), took it to vet, raised money (total bill 8k, paid 3k of it myself, visited her every day), brought it home, nursed it bk to health then FOUND IT'S owner!! I have never been so happy. :)

Got married and had a baby (was never going to do either). Best thing I've ever done in my life! So happy about that! :)

Ran the Bay to Breakers in SF 7 miles. Fun time. :)

Well of course I'm most proud of my family. But as far as an accomplishment? I've been trying to start cleaning houses on the side lately since I LOVE to clean and now that my youngest is starting school full-time working is next in our plan. So today I cleaned a lady's house totally spotless and I absolutely LOVED ever minute of it. And the best part??? When all was said and done at the end of the day, standing there looking over a perfect house, I just felt so good and that I really did something important. Something that would help make someone's day a little brighter by coming home and having to do absolutely nothing.

I consider doing for others doing for myself. The Bible tells us that if we want to be first we must be last and if we want to save our life we must be willing to lose it.

A few weeks ago I had a couple come in for the weekend with their children. I found 120 dollars in the pocket of their weekend bag and this bag has a lot of pockets. I could have easily pocketed it and they never would have known. When I told them about the money they were shocked that they left it in there and that I told them.

Then today I had a mom come in and try and pay me. She is leaving after 4.5 years using my services as her little man is going to school. Well she forgot what schedule she was on and that she has been paying a week and a half a head for a few years now. I handed her the money back and explained she didn't owe me for this weekend and Monday.

I'm pleased when I do the right thing, especially when money is tight and the temptation to keep an unearned windfall is high. Character development is important, my own and the little people I model behavior for.

My high school choir placed 7th at Nationals in Washington D.C. in our first year of being a Small Women's Ensemble with a brand new Director.

As well, doing the best I can with the cards I have been delt in life ... it's not always easy to play 52 card pick up in your early 20's and be nearly 30 and have a 70% full deck in your hands again.

I got to marry my wife and she told me she's glad she married me (again) just two weeks ago.

I graduated from Airborne training and became a paratrooper in the US Army. (I overcame/controlled my fear of heights.)

I became number one in the nation, Area Service Manager of the Year, when I worked for General Motors. (First of 108.)

I helped all six of my sons make Eagle Scout.

Thanks for your question. Good luck to you and yours.

Over the course of my teaching career I have tried my best to give my absolute best to over 3,400 students (and still counting...I can't believe the number is that high!). There have been challenges, big ones, and I have not succeeded with all of them, but I have tried my best, even when I was pregnant and raising babies, including my very colicky baby boy.

I am married to a wonderful man and we have a stong, loving bond. We work hard to be the best parents we can.

I try to be the best daughter I can.

I try to keep the good things present in my mind in spite of very difficult times.

I rescued a very damaged dog that would likely have been put down and worked hard with him to make sure he would have a happy life.

I started to work out with my husband because I have FINALLY realized that in order to take care of others, I need to take care of myself.
I am really glad you asked this question!

My wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, clothes for kids, and my husband. The cross stitch pieces, framed and hanging in my home, and the ones I gave as gifts.
Im proud that I made a good decision and married the man I did and weve made it last and work for 37 years 9 months 2 weeks 2 days.

I am proud that I won an international scholarship to live and study in Japan. I am proud that I became a rescue diver. I am very proud that I completed my Masters degree while working and having three children in three years. I am so proud, every time they say it, that I taught my children, 'you're welcome.'

ETA: oh, and I think I'm pretty good teaching myself to touch type in three weeks!
