What are you doing for your children today for Valentines Day? I am not a big fan of Hallmark Holidays but was thinking of making my girls valentines and getting them a balloon. I am working today and they are home with dad so I asked him to make sugar cookies with them today and I would decorate them with the girls tonight. (My girls are 2 and 5). Dad and I are also making a nice dinner with wine, etc.

What can I do next?

I got my boys a $1 box of chocolates and a large Reese's Peanut Butter cup (they love those !). I also made them each a card and inside wrote how I think they are awesome, listed a couple of the things I love the most about them, and how I can't wait to see them as they grow up. I just wanted them to know how much they mean to me and how much I love them.

A little heart box if chocolates for each of them, maybe a little animal. We will probably bake cookies tonight and I was thinking of melting crayons into heart shapes.

I get the kids candy and a stuffed animal and some valentine items like bracelets and erasers. I'm surprising them tonight with choc fondue and yummy things to dip. I think it will be fun and hopefully a new valentines day tradition. =)

I bought some store made chocolate covered strawberries, gave them each one at breakfast and will let them have a few more after school. Simple and somewhat healthy (ya know, 'cuz of the fruit...). I don't like all the Valentine's Day hype, so nothing over-the-top for us. Plus they're celebrating at school and exchanging Valentines there, so the pressure's off me.

I got my boys each a $1 hallmark card (I save their cards), and since we are going to Mexico in a month I bought a $5 bucket of sand toys. I would have bought it anyways but this way they get it a little early :)
I have 2 craft projects we are going to be doing, 1 includes melting crayons into a heart shaped silicon mold. As far as food goes nothing special in this house. If my husband is up to watching a movie tonight I did rent a couple, so we will just have to see. There is nothing like coming home to smell of fresh baked cookies, yummy!! ( I should have done that!)

My girls got teddy bears and candy. I watch kids from home, so here in a minute we are going to pass out valentines and decorate sugar cookies. Then they'll play "hug-tag" (you have to be hugged to be unfrozen) lol.

We made 3 boxes of cupcakes for their classes last night. This morning we all said Happy V Day, and tonight we'll go to dinner somewhere. That's good enough for this year. I dropped the ball - normally it's something big and bad, but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars rigjht now.

Bought them small heart box chocolates and will place them on the table where they eat when I get home from work. They will have to eat their veggies at dinner first before they can have a piece of chocolate. I know mean mommy but hey! LOL

I made them these pet rock Valentines, and got them dinosaur shaped sippy cups;

Then we are going to have chocolate dipped strawberries, sugar cookies and a yummy dinner. We will most likely get a red box and just have a fun family night.

$1 store v-day goody bags, animal, couple musical toys, candy from walmart. I have 3 babies, 4,6,7. They love that and we are going to either the pretty candy or ice cream shop in the Galleria after work (if it isn't too crowded) that is if they have a good behavior grade today. If not, the goody bags are good enough. They don't get sweets often so they appreciate things like that! :D God Bless :D & Happy Valentine's Day!

My SD had a card and candy waiting for her (she catches the bus by 6:30AM).

My DD had socks, a card, and some sugar cereal she loves but I never buy.

My SS doesn't care. So he didn't get anything (he's away at school).

I'm not into big overblown hooplas, but I do think a little "hey, thought of you" is nice. I think that a little something will be very sweet for your girls.

I bought them each a little box of candy and I gave it to them this morning. Tonight we are baking cookies together. My husband won't be home tonight because of a class.

Valentine's Day is not a child's holiday. It's a romantic adult's holiday. The most I've ever done is let them exchange Valentines with their classes and sometimes I'd get them a $1.99 stuffed animal or $0.99 candy. This year, we did the class Valentines and made brownie bites to bring to their classrooms. My eldest is in middle school now so they didn't do Valentines at all, but had the option of buying carnations to give to friends. She still brought brownie bites to share with her first period class and they were a hit. :-)

We had plenty of brownie bites left for the girls to keep some home. I have two mini-muffin tins with 12 cups in them each. I bought a $1.99 package of valentine-style paper liners to fit and made 2 batches worth of homemade brownies and that was enough to make 8 pans of mini- brownies. All of the girls brought 25 of them to school.

That's all way more than I typically do for them. I only did it because my first grader's teacher requested that parents send in treats for a Valentine Friend Party. ::sigh::
