Weird FB "Thing" Happening

Okay, for those who don't know, i am 99.9% estranged from my father. we are "friends" on fb at this point - but i have blocked all his posts because he plays a ton of games, posts limitless ridiculous religious/political things constantly. it seems that he's pretty much on there constantly.

anyway, another LONG story short version - he left his last wife and has moved in with another woman. a few weeks ago, he messaged me on fb and asked if i had sent her a friend request. apparently she had thought she'd seen one from me, but then it disappeared.

i only have about 100 friends on fb. i don't friend acquaintances, friends-of-friends, or especially people i've never even met (like this lady). i politely apologized and told him, sorry, i didn't send her a friend request. he said he didn't think so, he thought it would have been very strange if i had, and we left it at that.

now, several weeks later, i get on fb and it states "theresa so-and-so has accepted your friends request". wth?? i don't even know this person. i get onto her profile and realize who she is. so i delete her.

anyone else have this situation? i don't even think i have gone to her profile - maybe months ago when i first found out he had moved in with her, just out of curiosity, but definitely not since then. i certainly didn't ever intend to hit "add friend". it's really annoying me that of all people, this is happening with these two in particular. grr. just wondering if this is a common fb occurrence. anyone?

thanks!

So What Happened?

thanks ladies! yep, i use my phone (which is not a smart phone - i admit it - it's a DUMB PHONE! lol) a lot so likely i clicked on something when it suggested people i might know, or something. i bet that's how it happened. no worries. i immediately deleted her and won't look back. if drama starts over it, well that's their choice. i'm really not going to get sucked into it.

SoccerPlayer W. - relax girl! it's just fb. it's what you make it. i've never once in my life had huge fb drama, and i don't use twitter. it's really not the devil. it's all about the people who drive it. no drama queens or stalkers = no drama. lol. sorry you obviously had a bad experience (either that or none at all), but so not what my question was about! :)

I realized that I had accidentally sent a friend request when I was looking to see who had been suggested as a friend by facebook. It was on my phone, not on my laptop. I was terribly embarrassed because it was someone I would not have friended. The same thing happened to my son, also on the phone, not on the computer.

I've never had FB send a friend request for me. I use an IPad and don't like to use an app to view FB unless I'm uploading pics. I have inadvertently sent friend requests due to the iPad.
Do you think it's your computer?
I too was just looking at their profile to see if I knew them and tried to click on a link, but the iPad clicked on add.
FB also crashes on me quite a bit.

It may have been one of those suggestions. I get "people you may know" and things like that especially if there is more than one mutual friend.

im sorry but I HATE FACEBOOK! I mean who cares what people do throughout. The day! Its more like stalk book! And if you don't have facebook like me in school I'm considered "a nobody" because there's already enough drama in my life why cause more? The worst of them all is twitter! Hey follow me on twitter! THAT SOUNDS STALKERISH! and then the fact that u tell ppl Wht you're doing... I'm going on vacation! Ok ill rob your house! I'm sorry but... I just hate them... and that happens a lot on facebook, having to unfriendly someone you didn't friend

I have never had that happen to me. Neither has my son. I would suggest that Rosie and Glenna are on to something with the "accidental" requests from using an app on a phone or other device, rather than an actual computer where you have the entire layout as you would normally see it.

Do you access FB other places where you might have done that?

Whew! Thanks for warning me. I often 'snoop' on the pages of folk that I dislike--ex hubby, (half) neice, boss. I WILL STOP NOW THAT I HAVE WARNED! lol

I think I had this happen once, too, and I just wrote it off as some sort of glitch connected to a friend of a friend. I have my FB locked down pretty tight so it surprised me.

Ugh that's no fun. And now what do you do? If you unfriend that could create issues too.

Yet another reason why I dislike fb.

I don't read ahead so if I am repeat sorry - sounds like your dad suggested you to her and she accepted it.

ANYONE who is friends with you can suggest friends to you...I would have to go back to check to see if you can remove that option, I think you can. Facebook just "upgraded" or changed things again...

If your dad logged on as you and sent a friend request - that would NOT be good. Change your password, add a capital letter and a sign....change it every month....
Hope that helps.

Get this one, Mom. I looked at FB on my smartphone and there was an article on one of my friend's names on my wall. I rarely see anything from this friend, mind you. The article was really inflammatory and there were a ton of comments on it, including asking WHY this man's article was there. I was really shocked, to be honest. On my computer, I went to my friend's wall. It wasn't there on the computer! Only on the phone! I have a sneaking suspicion that she clicked on a link on FB and read the offending article (well, I HOPE it offended her) and then FB "put it" on her wall. Either it only shows up on phones or she removed it from her wall on the computer.

Another thing. If you remove a comment on the computer, it will still show up on your phone.

I kind of think that FB on our smartphones is not worth using...
