I moved from Santa Barbara almost 10 years ago. I thought texas would just be temp. after a divorce. But now i have made a home here. I am happily married with two boys 4 and 2.5. Hello D., I would love to be your friend, I just moved to the Rowlett/Rockwall area a few months ago with my almost 4 yo son and don't have too many friends with kids but I work FULL time. Since you are a stay at home mom, I suggest you join your local MOMS club (just search it online), or check out Dallasareamoms.com, they have lots of get togethers with the kids and without them, I think something like this would be fun for you and your girls! Where in CA did you just move from? My husband and I just moved here from CA as well in March. It is defiantly a different setting out here and it's hard not having any friends nearby. We just had our first daughter in June.

Hi D.! Welcome to Texas! I would also encourage you to check out your local MOMS Club. We live in McKinney and love the friends we have made through this group. One great aspect is that the members are all going to be very close to where you live so you don't have to worry about traveling too far to see your friends or join in activities. Good luck! Angela

Hello, D.! Welcome to town! :-) It's really important to tell us where you live so we can help you because the Metroplex is big and often difficult to get around in. People tend to try to get together with folks in their own area. A couple other ideas:

1. Most areas have a Mom's Club with varying levels of activity. Check out your community center or library's tot time; they'll usually have information on the group, if there is one.

2. Do you walk or jog or anything? I have a group on SeeMommyRun.com, and I have met some of the greatest women that way! We walk, or jog, or rollerblade, or just get together and take all the kids to the pool. (There are some great tot water parks in the area!)

Hi there...I can SO relate! We moved here from CA about 3 yrs ago now and it was hard. We were so used to always having something to do! I have a 3, almost 4, yr old daughter and would love to get together anytime. I work during the week as a nanny, so we can get together then or evening or weekends. First off, a transition from California to Texas is going to be a challenge ;) I am sure you are learning that already. I would love to invite you to enroll your kids in some activities. Gymnastics (WOGA - where Carly Patterson trained and Nastia (the next one to take the gold) trains) has been a great place for my daughter to meet people (she is 4). There are also playgroups all over the area - check your subdivisions newsletter - they usually advertise them on the website or newsletter. OR - enroll your daughters in a daycare for just part time (two days a week for about 4 - 6 hours each day) this will provide a flow of birthday invitations! haha.

You need to get involved in your local MOMS CLUB GROUP in Plano. Go check out the website www.momsclub.org and check for Plano, TX. This group is a support group for SAHM's.

I also coordinate another Playgroup, but understand where you are coming from. What part of Plano do you reside?

I live in SE Allen (moving to Lucas soon) and have found a great MOMS CLUB GROUP here and then I have so many networking friends that scrapbook and do bunco. I am the Membership VP of the SE ALLEN MOMS CLUB...so I know you can get involved.
