Video Monitor - New York,NY

We are looking for a baby monitor, probably a video one. A single base is fine. We just need to keep an eye/ear on her once she starts sleeping in her crib in her own bedroom. We live in a 2-bedroom apartment, so one or two monitor units is the most we'd need. Please let me know WHY you like/hate your monitor. Thanks!

I love my monitor!! We have a dancing daisy video monitor. It has one small hand held monitoring device and you can view up to 4 spaces on it with a switch of a button. I use it for my twins. They are in the same room togehter but I need to view them seperately. It is so amazingly clear. The "flowers" (which are the cameras) blend easily into a kids room. They even have a small night light built in if you want. You just touch the flower base and the light comes on. There is NOTHING that I dilike about the product. It was resonable in price compared to others and I loved that the monitor if handheld and I can carry it with me. The only thing is that I wish I had found this sooner! I found it when they were about 1 year old. Before that we had a sound monitor and hated it. It was always staticky and hard to hear. LOud buzzing noises and interferance. None of this happens with the dancing daisy. LOOOOVE it!!!! Just type in dancing daisy video monitor and all the info you need comes up. search around b/c some will include 2 cameras in the package and some only include 1. You can buy more if yo uneed but just keep an eye out for what you are getting in the package.

You don't need a video monitor. Heck, in a two bedroom apartment, you'll probably be able to hear her if she cries, anyway. Save your money. Really.

If you feel you want a video monitor, go for getting one, but we lived in an apartment when we had my daughter and I bought a monitor to hear her cry... Let's not kid ourselves... it was an apartment. Not only did I hear every whimper, I'm sure our neighbors did too. We wound up putting the monitor away after the first night and saved it for when we moved to a house. It was very annoying at night to hear every gurgle and cough b/c I kept waking up all night long and running in to check on her. When she was really awake, it was impossible to ignore, even with the monitor off!

We also have the Summer Day/Night video monitor and I will say this... when it's working it's wonderful! We have gone through two sets (under warranty) because the video screens tend to die on these. We thought it was just us, but the reviews on Babies R Us said the same. All in all- great monitor, just save that receipt!!! They will replace it, but only with the original receipt.

we love our summer video monitor....picture is great very clear and picks all noise...even from outside. verry happy w it. think its almost $200

I also have the summer infant handheld video monitor. I love it and never had one problem with it. I live in a very small ranch and my daughter's room is right next to ours so we can hear her easily without it however, my husband and I loved watching her in the monitor. It was so much fun and definately gave me peace of mind when she was very little. We could peek on her whenevr we wanted without opening her door and waking her up! Definately worth the money!

I have the Summer monitor. My daughter is 3 years old, and we still use it. We love it! It is very easy to use, and the picture quality is pretty good. The downside, is that it really picks up everything - including crickets outside. It took a little while to get used to. We used to jump at every sound. And, at times it can get static. There are two different channels on it, which is great. That usually resolves the issue. When there is static, it typically doesn't last very long.

We have the Summer brand monitor and love it. Someone wrote that you do not need one because of the size of your place.....but I disagree. Our daughter is 19 months now. It is nice sometime when we hear her to look at the monitor to see if we need to go into her room. There have been times that she woke up, screamed, and went right back to sleep. Also, there were times when we were trying to get her to fall back asleep on her own, or trying to stop giving her a bottle in the middle of the night....and it was nice to be able to watch her to make sure she was ok when she was crying.....rather than running into the room to check on her.
