Monitoring 2 Rooms

Hi moms! I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and am due with my second the beginning of December. Does anyone have a monitor that allows them to monitor 2 rooms at once? We currently use the Summer handheld video monitor and I love the video feature. We do have alot of electronics in our house so I have occasional interference with this monitor. Consequently, I don't think that 2 separate monitors is a viable option simply because I think I will have alot of interference and static (we have had guests stay in our house who also have monitors and have had a problem with static). So, I'm looking for one monitor (preferably one that has the video feature) that can monitor two rooms at once. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

What can I do next?

I know someone that has the Summer video monitor (not the handheld one, the bigger one) and has two cameras in two seperate rooms for her 2 boys. She says it works awesome and flips back and forth every 8-10 seconds or something from room to room. She had to order the 2nd camera on the Summer website when the baby was born.

** She did say that she had interference for a while and realized it was the cordless phones that were running at the same frequency that the monitor was trying to use...so they changed cordless phones and all is well now...

I have the handheld Summer and never have interference except when my cell phone is ringing or receiving a message....you might want to check the frequencies of other things running in your home.

Best wishes!

Hey L. I found a moniter at Babies R Us you can moniter three rooms at a time or one by it's self. You just put it on scan and it will go through all the rooms that the reciever is in. Fairly inexpensive and it's made by Safety 1st. Hope this helps I too got it when I was preggers with my second.
Good Luck!!

There's no camara but I never used one and I think it works great:)

My kids are 27 months apart. When my second was born we moved the Summer video monitor to her room. We then bought a portable Motorola phone that has a camera and speaker system built into the phone. It runs on a rechargeable battery so it won't last all night but we use it for nap time or when we are downstairs and my oldest has just gone to bed upstairs. Once we are in bed too we turn it off since we can hear her without a monitor. The phone also has a way that we can talk to her in her room so if she is getting out of bed and should not be we can give her a little warning. It is great! I do not know the model number but I am sure if you google motorola camera phones you could find it. It was about $85 (if my memory serves me right) which is less than another video monitor, plus we got a new phone out of the deal which we needed. Good luck!

Hi L.,

I have 2 boys 25 months apart. Since my youngest was born in July, I have been trying to solve this same problem and have wasted a lot of money on monitors, so I am going to tell you what I have tried so you can hopefully save some money...

I used the Summer handheld and the regular big summer video monitor with my first son. When my second was born, I got an extra camera and put it in the baby's room. It did NOT WORK! I have to actually un-plug one camera for the other one to work. I thought I could just keep one on "A" and one on "B" and switch back and forth but nope. Then I bought a digital Graco monitor (sound only) because I thought there was no way that a digital monitor could interfere with a 900 mghz one. Again, I was wrong. If I have the Graco one on, the Summer one won't work, it's just static.

I am very frustrated and have no idea what I am going to do once I move the baby out of our room. I am not ready to stop monitoring my 2 year old, but I may have to. Please let me know if you find a solution :) ____@____.com

Just to let you know, you should read the reviews on that monitor the person before me suggested. It sounds awful...I was curious so I checked it out. I used two monitors and I never had a problem with interference, so even though it's a pain to use two it might be better. Good luck with your decision.

After reading the other responses, I checked and we must have the Summer Infant Baby's Quiet Sounds Video Monitor, not the day and night one that comes with two cameras. It seemed to have a higher customer rating on the Target site. But check and see if you can just add another camera to the one you have - if you have two channels on your Summer handheld, I think you should be able to use two cameras.

We have a Summer monitor - a little tiny TV screen that sits on our dresser. A friend gave us an additional camera they weren't using (they had the same monitor), so we put that one up in our daughter's room also (to get a different view). We can switch back and forth between cameras with a switch on the side of the monitor. I am sure that the camera could be mounted in a different room. Good Luck!

I went and checked out the reviews on this monitor after I suggested it, I don't think it is worth it. Sorry. As I said though, I have to non video Graco monitors that work great. Also, Graco has a non video monitor intended for two rooms. I should have checked out the reviews before I suggested the video monitor below. Sorry. Good luck. If you want to know the two models of Graco monitors that I have, let me know. I'm happy to share. :)

Hi! I have 2 Graco Monitors (not video) and they work fine; normally no interference. But, I did see this video monitor on Target's webpage and you might check it out. It has 2 cameras for 2 different rooms. You might have to cut and paste this weblink if you can't click on it. http://www.target.com/Summer-Infant-Dayand-Scanning-Monit...
It is called the Summer Infant Day and Night Dual Scanning Video Monitor. You can also search thier webpage for it. Hope this helps. If you want more info on the 2 monitors that I have just let me know and I will gladly share. :) Congrats on baby #2!
