Hello,
I am looking for any ideas/suggestions on where to have my daughter's 5th birthday party. Because she is turning 5 this is her first major party. Her theme is Princess. I can't think of a place that would be appropriate for this type of party and I am reluctant on having it at my home. Chuck E Cheese is out of the question. I have about a month and a half to plan so I'm trying to get a head start. Any advice would be appreciated

What can I do next?

Where are are you located in (City and state)? Are you going to do this party yourself or are you hiring someone else to do it and they're coming to you?

There is a place in Laplata called the tea room that has tea party birthday parties for little girls. I have not had a party there, but I heard it was a really fun time.

tea parties at the Four Seasons in Georgetown are big with little girls that age now. had a friend do one for her 6 year old and believe it or not, it wasn't expensive...http://www.fourseasons.com/washington/

A., --I'm assuming you're local because the requests I see tend to be from the DC Metro area-- if so, try going to Washingtonparent.com, they have a huge list of resources for all types of birthday parties.

My daughter attended a princess tea party when she was about 4 and it was really cute -- a woman hosted the princess tea at her apartment in Old Town with real china, etc. Was great for the mother because she didn't need to have all the children at her house, of course. But I've noticed that some services offer to bring everything to your house (costumes, games, cookies, etc -- including the hostess), that route may be cheaper. I haven't investigated the princess teas myself, but got some great suggestions and recommendations for other types of kid parties from that site. Best luck, and hope this helps!

Check the malls in your area to see if there is a Club Libby Lu or something similar. It's a store where kids can play dress up with any number of themes and get all kinds of sparkly makeup and hair do-dads. My granddaughter, who turned 4 in February, had a small visit with two of her cousins and she was happier than any grand event that she ever had at a Chuck E. Cheese. You may want to let your daughter pick two or three of her best friends and go to Club Libby Lu instead of trying to throw a bigger party. Good luck.

The Gymboree near us rents out the place for birthday parties and such... they have a party room for the food that you could probably pink-up. Also, maybe any empty space like at a church hall or hotel that you could rent.

One other thought... this would have to be a very small party and would entirely depend upon the maturity level of your 5 year old and her very close friends... you could check out the local tea shoppe and look into a young ladies tea... this might be more appropriate for just 3 - 4 of her girlfriends and invite their mothers. The girls could get all dressed up as princesses... or whatever and have a lovely time sipping tea out of fancy cups and eating pretty chocolates.

I don't know where you live, but check this place out www.colormemine.com.

It's a place where you can paint pottery. I had my daughter's birthday party there and the children and parents loved it! The children were engaged, and best of all--no cleanup! You are allowed to bring cake and I created some "goodie bags" with items from the Dollar section at Target.
