TV Service Providers Question

We are paying a ridiculous amount for Cox. Can anyone recommend a reasonable service provider. We have HD DVR + 2 TV's. It looks like Dish and Direct are similar but they lock you into a 2 year contract and raise the rates after the 1st year. Ugh!

What can I do next?

you need to learn how to deal with these kinds of people(companies). we have dish and i'm paying less now than i did two years ago. when the bill goes back up after a year i call them and say no way....i want my bill lowed! if you are firm with them and talk to them they will work with you!!! i have done this with the electric company when they want to raise our monthly payment plan.....it does work!!!

You have to get firm. I always call Comcast when a better rate pops up and tell them if they don't give me the new price I'm going to disconnect then reconnect my service. That always works because its actually less work for them to just change it. I pay less now than ever and I've been with them since we moved to Florida 8 years ago.

Is online viewing an option? I have Cox and wasn't happy with the service I was getting, not to mention the price going up every six months. I dropped them to basic cable (the first 20 channels), but my HD TVs still pick up another 20 or so extra HD channels. I bought a cable to connect my computer to my TV and I can watch anything online on TV. I'm coming out way ahead since most everything can be viewed online. I am also looking into getting an indoor antenna and then I will cancel Cox for good.

We have Verizon Fios. The service is good, but they are like everyone else - the price is good during the introductory period. Then you either have to be willing to switch to someone else, or pay more.
