Turning 5 Three Days After Christmas What Would You Do?
My daughters 5th birthday will be three days after Christmas and just wondering what you would do have it the weekend after New Years or wait till the summer and possibly do a pool party? If we do it a few weeks after what are some fun things we could do (themes) I'm all about themes!
So What Happened?™
Thank you everybody I have decided that we are going to celebrate as close to her birthday as possible it is her day! We are thinking about doing a winter wonderland theme I have so many ideas going through my head I'm so excited!

A good friend of mine was a "Christmas Baby" and her parents celebrated her 1/2 birthday every year and it was great! That way her friends were around and we could play outside and in the pool. One year her mom did the "Very Merry Un-birthday" theme from Alice In Wonderland and I still remember it! It was a Mad Hatter tea party with crazy decorations and costumes welcome. My vote is to let her have the "unique" party that isn't on her birthday!

DS was born on Christmas day. He will be five this year. We did a pool party on his half birthday this year. Went great (it was the first time he asked for a party) and we plan on doing it again next summer.

We have Christas here, then 2 weeks later is our twins' birthday and 2 weeks after that is our older's birthday. The weather is HORRIBLE here this time of the year. We usually have a tiny party for those local kids who are able to get to the bowling alley or community center or whatnot. Then we do have a larger party in the summer and call it their "1/2 birthday" party. We cut the cake & cup cakes in 1/2 and only give 1/2 scoops of ice cream to go along with the theme.

My oldest sons birthday is Dec 3, my cousins daughter was born On Christmas. We usually still have a full birthday with No Christmas decorations...but for our son we have usually let him have either a "Half" birthday or a special sleep over with friends and pool party in the summer. I have never liked it or felt it was right that even when My son was little so many people would give him one present and call it Birthday and Christmas, so I have always gone out of my way to be sensitive to the fact that he gets a birthday.

My birthday is the day after Christmas. Parties during the holidays were hard because people were on vacation and left town. Sometimes we'd have a party early on a weekend early in December.
I've thought about celebrating it 6 months later in June (but then everyone's out of school on summer break), but never got around to moving it. We just like going out to dinner on my birthday now.

When they are that little, personally I think a 'half birthday' thing in summer is just confusing. My son's birthday is the week BEFORE Christmas, so I know where you're coming from.
We have always had his party in December- I offered a summer half birthday once, and he told me he really LIKES having his birthday when it is and didn't want to change it!
Our last party was a Nightmare Before Christmas party (age 10) and since we already had the Christmas decorations up, we also put up Halloween stuff and had a Jack Skellington cake and all the boys wore their Halloween costumes and played games like 'wrap the mummy'. It was super fun.
Just call up a few moms and figure out a good date that works for you. Remember, no matter when you have the party or what you do, there will always be a few kids who can't make it. I would just do it the weekend after Christmas or you could try and squeeze it in the week before- but after will likely be easier for most people.
Have fun!

Definitely have it on or near her birthday. My birthday is exactly 2 weeks after Christmas, but we always had a birthday party. If my sons were invited to a birthday the week after Christmas, we would go -it's a perfect time -everyone is out of school and you could do it at some sort of play place. If there's snow, you could have hot chocolate and doughnuts at a park and a "build a snowman" contest or sledding.

My daughter will be 5 on 12/29. I make sure it ts TOTALLY seperate from Christmas. If we are having it at home- all signs of Christmas are gone before her party. I want it to be "her holiday" We just recently moved and this year we will be back with our family for her b-day. She has requested a skating party and a pinata so that is what we will be doing on her actual birthday. I also agree that half year parties are confusing. I dont think think it has to be anything over the top as long as it is seperated from the other holidays. Good luck
