I just read this article on wfaa.com, it looks like a great place to take the kids, my son is only 13 months old so we will wait until next year, but I can't wait to take him.

Hi - I took my grandson to the Collin Creek Mall last year but I don't think they are doing any thing this year. I did read an article that the Garden Ridge Mall in Plano is having Treat or Treat Wednesday starting at 5:30 till 8:pm. They are fun. You just walk around in the mall from store to store and they give you treats and the best part is they are all dressed in costumes. Check with the City of Garland web site they may point you to someplace safe and fun...:) AV

My neighborhood in Murphy is great-loaded with kids, mostly little ones. Hours are pretty short, from 6-8 ish. It's The Timbers, the SE side of the intersection of FM 544 and Murphy Rd (behind the Albertson's). We have handed out candy the last two years, and this year we finally have a little person to take trick or treating. Couldn't be more excited!

My son is 3 1/2 and we're doing the same thing we did last year----TRUNK OR TREAT! Have you heard of this? It's the latest thing and it's GREAT! Alot of the local churches host these now. On Halloween night, church members will line their cars up in the church parking lot and hand out candy and treats from the trunks of their cars! Some of them even have games and such set up for the kids to play. It's safe, in a well lit area and put on by local church members. That's about as safe as it gets! My son LOVES IT! I would ask your church if they do something like this, or if you aren't a member of a church, just check out some of the local ones---alot of them advertise it on their signs out front. PERFECT for the little ones! Have a GREAT Halloween!

If you don't mind driving to Plano, there is a street in my neighborhood that goes all out for Halloween. The street name is Canteberry (not sure about spelling). The culdesac of that street is where you will find a huge elaborate set up for Halloween. The P.D. blocks off the circle from traffic due to hundreds of children/adults coming to see the display and get candy there. Canteberry is close to Plano Senior HS (closest intersection is Park/Independence). Hope you have a happy Halloween!

I live in the Forney area and Chick Fillet has a Trunk & Treat with games for the kids. We went to the one in Mesquite last year and it was alot of fun. Several people back in their cars in the parking lot, open their trunks and give out candy and play games. The kids love it and it's a safe alternative than going door to door. Good Luck

My absolute favorite neighborhood is in Wylie.
There's an area of newer homes built and they'e all very close to each other and so many people participate.
My daughter's bucket is usually full with 1 street and they get the good candy.
We live in Rowlett and tried our neighborhood last year and then ended up driving to Wylie so we know for sure that's where we'll go this year.

Is it just me, or is there some question about the appropriateness of going to neighborhoods in which you don't live to trick-or-treat? This will be my first year to take my daughter, and we also live on a street where not many people participate, but I hate to go to a neighborhood where we don't live. Do the neighborhoods that go "all out" expect kids from outside of their area to show up? I'm not sure what is proper.
