TRE Train from DFW Airport to Fort Worth

Has anyone taken this and is it easy? My parents are coming in to visit and traffic is supposed to be a BEAR to get there. I work near the station, but don't want to torture them either way.

What is your experience catching the shuttle to the train?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have never caught the shuttle to the train. I am waiting until they have a TRE train stop at the airport which is not scheduled for a few years. If they are bringing luggage, it will be very inconvenient. They would have to take a bus from the terminal to one of the long term parking locations and transfer to a shuttle to take them to DFW Centerpoint. At that point, they would board a train and take it to FW. You might also consider some of the airport shuttles that pick up and deliver to some of the downtown FW hotels. The shuttles would pick them up at the terminal and take them to one of the hotels and you could pick them up there.

Personally, if you can't pick them up, I would have them take a shuttle (perhaps Super Shuttle?) I've always had good service with them, and they will take them either to their hotel in Ft Worth or to your home. And load/off load their luggage for them. You could contact the shuttle service to see if you could pre-pay for them if you wanted. Much easier and more convenient than trying to take the bus and then the TRE.

I haven't done the shuttle thing but yes, traffic is bad but I would still pick them up. 183 then the south entrance to DFW is doable. No picnic. But doable. Good luck!

Only in Dallas do we have a train system which gets 0.5 miles from the airport but does not go to the flipping airport! What use is that? Anyhow......sorry for my vent. I would pick them up. The drive from FTW is only 25-30 minutes without traffic, maybe 45 in the worst traffic. On the other hand, they will have to schlepp their bags through a couple different buses to get to the train then they will have to get their stuff on the train. I have not personally done it, but I guaranty it will be confusing and painful. Unfortunately, we just don't have a good mass transit system here yet. Good luck and enjoy their visit!

I personally have not ridden the shuttle to the train but have a flight attendant friend who rides the TRE to and from all the time. If they are up for the adventure, I'd say go for it! Enjoy your visit.
