TMI Gyno Appt Question. Jim Dont Look!

So, my annual was supposed to be in July, but I had to reschedule a couple times, babysitter fell through and then my son had the stomach flu.
I finally have another appt scheduled on Friday, that I made a month ago, not knowing that my period was going to start 9 days early this month.
Friday, I will be on the last leg of my period, I know it will still be there a little bit, but nothing major.
I almost feel stupid at this point calling them AGAIN and asking them questions. They know me by name. :)

Would you reschedule AGAIN, or can you go while your period is still somewhat present?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Lmao Rhonda, you were right!

Tried to warn the poor guy...

The answers are pretty split, I guess I have to call. :(

These people have seen it all - infections, sores, pus, discharge, cuts from trimming gone wrong, stitches after episiotomies - a little blood doesn't scare them.

You're fine. I get my annuals done when I am 6 weeks postpartum and still have some lochia. A little bit of blood won't interfere with a good appt.

You will be at the end of your period?? No, I wouldn't reschedule. I would go and get it done! They see stuff like that all the time--so don't worry.

I would call just to be sure. I've had about a dozen doctors in my life, and I found that it all comes down to personal preference. Some refused to do an exam, others were ok.

They can't do your pap smear if you are still bleeding, so if that is part of your exam, I'd go ahead and reschedule. Otherwise you'll have to come back AGAIN for the pap.

Go. I've called to ask before and they said it's fine.

When you get there, you can tell them your situation. Usually they already have a protective cover/sheet over the exam table anyway, but if there are any special instructions, they can tell you at that time.

That happened to me once, and I went to the appt. I ended up having to come back again another day because the pap test was "inconclusive" (because of the blood and whatever... sorry, TMI). Better to reschedule now than have to undress from the waist down, twice. ;)

Go, to them it is nothing. I was in your shoes and it seemed weird to me, but they said not to let that stop me from coming in. In the end it really wasn't a big deal.

They can't do a pap smear if you are bleeding a lot, but if it is very light flow, then you can still go. If in doubt, call the nurse and ask if it will be ok. I'm sure they get that question a lot!

I was told as long as its not on the days where its the heaviest, your ok to go in. I personally would rather not go while on my period but if the actual bleeding bleeding were over then I would go. Meaning, the old blood looking bleeding were occuring and I was at the last 2 days, I would not reschedule.

If you're at the end then I would just go. I've asked that question before and it wasn't a issue. If you are having a urine sample done then it might cause issues, but for just the annual, no worries w going.
