Lately, my hands and feet have been bothering me. Then, my knees sometimes my knees bother me. If I don't eat, I feel this more.

I went to the dr yesterday, he said I have severe allergies, My bp was fine. My temp was 99.

I asked the dr if we should check for Lyme. He said no. I do not have a bite - or a ring. But, some people do not get a ring.

But, the tingly feet, hands and knees are a pain.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I will be going for a blood test.

I also happened to pick up a friends baby and twisted the wrong way but, didn't think I truly pulled the shoulder...The pain showed up though ! ...I pulled my shoulder so I just received deep tissue massage. The pain from the shoulder and being scared kinda radiated through my body !! The pain got real bad...but my knees and tingly feeling have gone away.

I am still going to follow up w/ a blood test and another doctor.

The physical therapist said to get a few massages and try an anti-inflammatory med---which is working !!! I am glad I did not wait longer...I am still going to have a blood test since I am due for one. TY for your responses !

Insisit on a Lyme test! If left untreated it can cause serious damage. I would also see a nuerologist to rule out everything else. I was lucky enough to have the bulls eye so my diagnosis was easy but I had the same symptoms and more. Good luck!

Kristen:

Your doctor wasn't concerned about tingly feet and hands?! Sorry - i would broom him to the curb and find another.

In regards to Lyme Disease? After a certain time - the typical test won't work and you would need to seek out an Infectious Disease Control doctor in your area for the testing.

I don't see tingly hands and feet as a Lyme Disease issue. I see it as a nerve issue - most likely you have a pinched nerve in your neck and back that is causing the lack of sensation in your limbs.

Did he test you for diabetes? That's one of the symptoms of undiagnosed diabetes.

If you drink alcohol - frequently - that could be a side effect of it as well.

Did he run a blood test for allergies? What about hormones, thyroid and vitamin levels?

I would find another doctor.

Good luck! I hope you find a doctor who gives you answers!!

I have this and my doctor tested me for Type II Diabetes initially. It turned out to not be the case for me, but maybe you should ask.

I actually had same symptoms and it progressed to swelling in my joints. After numerous tests and lots of doctors visits I was diagnosed with parvovirus which is fifth disease......some adults can have the symptoms you described as well as a rheumatic response. I felt so frustrated not having a diagnosis. Although the only treatment that they offered to ease symptoms was steroids, which I chose not to use, I was happy to actually know what was going on and not being dismissed. I also never get sick so I was feeling so frustrated with the symptoms! I hope you find out what the underlying problem is. I also had an MRI done just to make sure which was normal fortunately. Thinking of you and hope you feel better soon.

Time to find a new doctor. How did he determine that you have severe allergies? It doesn't seem to fit into the equation.

Go get a Lyme test. It certainly can't hurt.If that is ruled out, see an orthopedic surgeon. You might have some pinched nerves in your neck which is making your hands and feet tingle.

Feel better.

Lyme, as you said, does not always present with a ring or a rash... or.. what if the tick was on your scalp, and you did not notice it?

If you feel that you may have Lyme symptoms, try to get the doctor to run the test anyway....

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/lyme-disease/DS00116/DSE...

Also, many times mild symptoms may show up at first, and people don't realize their "flu" symptoms are really the early indications of Lyme... the symptoms then go away, but re-appear as neurological symptoms.

Since you apparently live in the NE (from your location), I would ask your doctor to do a Lyme test anyway.......

Tingling hands can also be a sign of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is very common.....

There are a lot of things that can cause neuropathy. I think ruling out critical issues is a good idea because this can be a side effect or indicator of a variety of things.

What are your severe allergies? To what? How is this related to your tingling hands and feet?

There's a lot than can be done for neuropathy as well as allergies without getting into tests and medications, but I'd have to know more about the allergies and what triggers them. Feel free to message me.

I too think you should find a dr that takes this seriously. A few blood tests wouldn't hurt.

That being said...I had this exact problem. Some from my hands is due to carpal tunnel, so I still have tingling when my arms are in a certain position, but the other tingling in my hands and feet have gone away when I gave up gluten. Weird I know....one of the other surprises when I gave up something that was toxic to me.

Definitely seek a second opinion. Neuropathy can be stopped from getting worse and managed, but nerve damage can not be reversed so it is in your best interest to find out ASAP what is wrong.

I hope you update your SWH when you get answers.

It's important to get checked for this. There are some neurological problems that this points to. I don't want to list them here because I don't want to upset you. The point is that you need to get to a doctor to figure it out. I would go see a neurologist. I really would. If you didn't know before now that you have severe allergies, I would be discounting what the regular doctor said.

Separately from this, I think that you COULD have Lyme's disease without the ring. You should be asking for a blood test.

Consider the fact that your doctor works for you, and if you want to be tested for Lyme then he needs to test you for Lyme and whatever else you request even if he disagrees. That said, if he disagrees strongly then he should give you sound reason as to why and be open to having a back and forth discussion.

I would also talk to a neurologist.
