Thomas the Train

bring your camera and extra batteries, drinks, stroller, lots of patience. snacks and lots of water and some $ to spend at their store if you want. dress for the weather. hopefully no rain. arrive about 1 hr or more before your ride. We went twice and had a great time. make sure you get a picture around the front of the train. they had a petting zoo, magic show, legos area, train track area, arts & craft area. so you will be doing lots of walking. try to have at a 1 adult per 2 children ratio. It's just mentally easier. have a great time!

this thread helps me out as well, since i am thinking of taking my 4 yr old son to it. my 10 yr old son is also into trains, so i hope that it's not too babyish for him. the grandparents will be in town that weekend, thus i'm thinking it would make a great family outing.

We had (free) tickets for the train ride last year. I don't know if I will bother to pay for them though this year. All the free stuff was what my son really enjoyed. There's a place for them to play with the trains, color, blow bubbles, watcha show, etc. So many photo opportunities so bring a camera!

We took our then 2 yr old son to see Thomas last October in Rusk, TX. It was fabulous! We could have stayed locally and gone to the one in Grapevine, but after looking online at all locations, the one in Rusk appealed to us the most. You only need tickets if you're actually going to ride the train. We rode the train and even had an air conditioned car! My son is still obsessed with Thomas the train and ALL trains, so we'll make this a tradition until he's outgrown it.

My son's first real word was "train" so Thomas was a must. Wear comfortable, walking shoes, bring plenty of snacks and drinks. Don't forget the stroller or the sunblock. Also, I would bring some hand sanitizer if you plan to go to the petting zoo. I did not feel that my hand were clean after washing them at the wash station. Don't forget the camera or spending money. It was a real treat for my son as well as myself. (Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor was my introduction to the Beatles. :O)) I would save the train ride for last or almost last. It is so relaxing to "finally" be off your feet and you probably won't want to walk around a whole lot more. Maybe do as we did, ride the train, then hit the store and head for the car. (He was not allowed to buy anything until he saw everything and really thought about what he wanted.)

This will be my thrid year to attend A Day Out with Thomas. My son LOVES it!! In fact this year I am sneaking the tickets into his Easter basket! One thing I would mention is bringing your own wooden train with your child's name cleary written on it. The tables are set up for everyone to use at once and sometimes getting a train can take some waiting out. I noticed a few parents did this last year and it seemed like a great idea to keep the kids from fighting.
