Hi!
We'll be visiting soon - any suggestions on what to do where to go with the kiddos in Dallas?
Is the zoo worth it?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi! I personally think that Ft Worth is the "family / daytime city" and Dallas is more the "adult / nighttime city". That's just because I was closer to Ft Worth though. I would suggest you go to fortworthchild.com and on the left side, click "calendar". From there, you can type in the dates you'll be there and what county you'll be in (Dallas), and see what pulls up for those days. You may be surprised, there's often a lot. I really don't like the Dallas zoo, but it's been a few years. The Forth Worth zoo is really great. However, there are plenty of museums, theater (including children's theater), etc. Perhaps you could still take a tour of Cowboy Stadium (quite impressive) or see the old baseball stadium by 6 Flags and Hurricane Harbor. Not sure what you're interested in...but I would suggest finding some water or indoor activities. Freakishly hot.

The Dallas World Aquarium is awesome. Look for discount coupons as it is $20 for adult admission (but worth it.)
The Dallas Museum of Art sometimes has children's programs. There are lots of good museums in Ft. Worth also.
Coming from CO, I would avoid outdoor activities as it will be over 100 degrees for a while yet.
Grapevine Mills Mall and Bass Pro World could be fun. They are right next to each other.
The Heard Museum in McKinney is great if you are in the area and think you can endure the heat for awhile. Some of it is inside.

Right now it is HOT - above 100. So beware on any outdoor activities. Fair Park has a Children's Museum, as well as other attractions - http://www.natureandscience.org/dcm/default.asp

I've been to the Dallas Zoo once - it was kind of depressing, but they may have updated it since I was last there - I've heard the Fort Worth Zoo is a lot better - a drive, but better.

There's also the Dallas World Aquarium - http://www.dwazoo.com/d/

http://www.dallasarboretum.org/ - the arboretum is outside, however, there are activities as well.

Have fun in Texas!

Fort Worth zoo is one of the best in the nation skip the Dallas zoo.
Going Bonkers is awesome and they only have it in a few cities.
American Girl doll store if you have girls.
Six Flags Over Texas.
Depends on exactly where you are staying, but there are some cool indoor parks at some of the churches.
