We are headed to Dallas on Sunday and then on to San Antonio next Tuesday or Wednesday for our Spring Break vacation. The weather forecast is not too great some days. I need some ideas of indoor activities that can keep us busy/happy.

Thanks!

The Dallas Science Museum is usually fun. If you want to take the trek over to Fort Worth they have the grossology exhibit right now. It's all about the gross stuff your body does. My kids LOVED it! The Dallas World Aquarium is a great visit, but it's a little over priced. The Galleria Mall has ice skating.

If you want to head over to Grapevine Mills Mall it may be worth it for you. They have Lego Land, an Aquarium and a Rainforest Cafe. Bass Pro is right across the street too. The Gaylord Hotel is there too, they often have fun stuff to do and see (some of it's free).

The Dallas World Aquarium is awesome for kids and adults.
I think anyone interested in history would want to see the Sixth Floor Museum and it is close to the aquarium.
My favorite Tex Mex and authentic Mexican restaurant is Desperadoes on Greenville at Lovers Lane. Just north of downtown. I have been going there for almost 35 years and the quality is still the best.
If you haven't been to San Antonio before, you are in for a treat! So much to do! You may want to check out a post yesterday about Fiesta Texas though.
Hope you have a fun, safe trip!

I just wanted to let you know that there is only a 30% chance of rain on Sunday and the high is 66. After that it's supposed to be sunny and near 80 each day. :)

*The Ft. Worth zoo is amazing for all ages! I also agree that the Ft. Worth Stockyards are a must if you want to get a feel for what the Old West was really like. It's so much fun there, and the food is fantastic!

Dallas
for little ones - Legoland in Grapevine. Tons of Museums here. Indoor bounce house places.
for teen agers - Deally Plaza, JFK Museum, Holocasut Museum, and lots of wonderful Malls
Don't miss Fort Worth. It kicks Dallas' tail when it comes to Texas vacation flavor. The Stockyards and downtown Fort Worth are great.
I have lots more info about DFW and some about San Antonio if I knew more specifics. PM me :)

How old are your kids? Mine are toddlers - on rainy days, we go to the mall! You can go to North Park and throw pennies at the turtles and ducks in the little duck pond (well - not AT them), window shop at Disney, Lego, and Build A Bear, and then head up to the food court to share a kid meal and a Jamba Juice. Total cost: @ $10. If you have older kids, a mall trip would also be good, but a little more expensive. There is a movie theater and lots of teen shopping. And - the people watching at North Park is GREAT! However, if you feel unhappy seeing 12 year olds walking around in designer clothes with $800 handbags, better stay home...

Galeria has a 3rd floor toddler playground, and also an ice skating rink. I've never done the ice skating but definitely worth checking into.

The Science Place at Fair Park is also good and has an omni theater, a toddler area, and also an aquarium.

If its nice at all, I LOVE the Dallas Arboretum and so do my kids. Dallas Blooms has started, and I'm sure everything is quite beautiful. We have a membership so we go all the time - but NO FUN on a cold and rainy day.

The zoo is also good, and you can check - if you currently have a zoo membership it might also work at the Dallas Zoo. A koala exhibit is just opening this weekend and the Safari part is also very cool. If the weather is just a little overcast/cool, this would be a good option.

I always take all of my out of town guests to Chuy's (on Knox - just off 75) for local Tex Mex. Knox/Henderson area also has Wild About Harry's frozen yogurt, and one of the largest Apple stores in the country. We also always like to go to the Froggies toy store on Knox anytime we are in that area.

Have fun! And, I'm quite sure that even on a cool day, Dallas is warmer than Kansas!
