JL gave you the exact websites to obtain your yearly credit report....i wouldn't recommend going to any other sites they can be tricky to navigate through without getting you signed up for other services that charge fees.
Also the best thing to do is order a credit report from 1 place and then 6 months later or another credit report from the other place. Anything can happen in 6 months and this will give you a bit more peace of mind getting it every 6 mo rather than once a year.

To not be a ding against your credit, you have to be the person who pulls the report and not a mortgage person.
