Hi mamas!
Have any of you had your eyebrows threaded at the mall??? I can't wax, and plucking makes an uneven mess of my face, so i thought of those kiosks... Now the idea of being in the middle of the isle with people shopping all around makes me uncomfortable... but i can deal for 15 mins.
What are your experiences with it, cost, length of no hair???
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you mamas for your input.. The reason I cannot wax is because the medication i am on (accutane generic) makes your skin thinner making it much more prone to bleeding and healing differently, so waxing is a no-no even 6 months after the med is stopped.. SO i figured how about the threading because my eyebrows are looking sad :( However after hearing some stories I dont think threading will work eaither, especialy if any inflammation or possible bleeding may occur.... I will just have really overgrown eyebrows for a year, could be worse.. lol.. thanks!!!!

Love it!!! I can't wax either, and I went to the mall and saw the kiosk and thought "how bad can it be" and it really isn't that bad. If you have had a facial or ever had waxing before, it's really not that much different. The kiosk charges $12 (I was paying 20 at the salon I go to) so it's a good deal. I go every three weeks now (sometimes go 4-6) and wouldn't go back to waxing even if I could.

I wont lie, I think it hurts like hell!!! I also get these tiny red bumps from it. I prefer waxing. The hair grew back just as quickly too.

Yes, I go every 2 weeks sometimes 1week and a half. Because it is so affordable (4-5 bucks) and it only takes like 5-10 min and your done why wouldnt you go. I have been having my eyebrows threaded for over 10 years and with the same woman. She is absolutely amazing! The woman's name is Rekha and her number is ###-###-####. She has 2 seperate salons and she is back and forth. Call her and make an appointment and I guarantee you will not regret it. Do not go to any kiosks in the mall. From what I have heard and seen they are much more expensive and are not as good as she is. They are good but she is amazing. If you show her a pic and your eyebrow shape will allow it she can match it. She does so many other homeopathic stuff too like facials, wax and other things as well. Her prices are also very affordable.

I have some pretty great eyebrows...because I must pluck these bad boys every single day or else I have a caterpillar crawling across my face in no time. I got behind when I was pregnant and stopped at a kiosk in the mall and decided to get my eyebrows threaded. WOW...that hurt. After 15 years of waxing (anywhere from twice a month to twice a year) I thought nothing could hurt more than waxing...I was wrong. I don't think waxing hurts AT ALL now. I am not a big baby (I have 4 tattoos, have birthed 3 kids, ect) but I still was surprised at the sting. PLUS, I don't know if the threading didn't pull the hair out by the root or what, but it seemed like my hair grew back WAY faster than a wax job. They look pretty great for a day or two and then I was back to plucking...at least with waxing I can leave my face alone for a week or two.
May I ask, why can't you wax?
The way I pluck and keep everything even is by doing it in my mirror in the car. I just flip the visor down and open up the small mirror and I have a great view of every little hair. I may look a bit silly doing it, but have found that LOTS of women pluck their hair that way! lol

yes yes yes, I can not do wax, it makes me break out. Plus I have never had a bad thread. I can not use the oil the have for afterwards, breakouts again. Not sure about kiosk though, there is a shop I go to. Love it six bucks for the eyebrows, and and ten to get my whole face done.

I love threading - had it done in NYC and DC for $7! Sadly, it's around $25 here. I use Retin-A and had no problem with irritation. Hair was gone same amount of time as with waxing. But, I would definitely check with your derm before trying - they might say no way.

I LOVE it. I've done it for about four years and the hair is almost GONE now I don't go as much!

The thread that is in the mouth is held for tension and gets NOWHERE near you. I think it's awesome how fast and how much better than waxing is.

It's been around for a LOOOONG time but in the US we are so slow to try new things.

I tried it. They have a threading salon in the mall, so no gawkers looking at you. It hurt so bad that my eyes started watering and my nose running. I asked her to stop and I've never had it done again. The hair grew back faster than waxing too. Don't ask me to recommend it...ugh!

Yes, it is the only hair removal I have used for the past 10 years (except a few times when I went back to MN and couldn't find anyone there who did it.)

It doesn't even take 15 min--more like 5.
I get my brows and my upper lip threaded for a total of $8! Yes, it is pretty popular here in Chicago. I don't know the exact amount of time, but it is longer than with waxing and plucking.

It can be a bit awkward, because oftentimes the ladies understand very little English, or just have a different way of interacting with the customers, and can be a bit terse. They'll ask you to use your hands to help pull your eyelid taut, but really, I LOVE threading!

I used to get mine done until I started thinking it was unsanitary. They have the thread in their mouths and their salava is getting on the thread. I personally think that is nasty. The person who used to do mine was done in like 5-10 minutes and she did an excellent job! It hurt, BUT it lasted way longer thn razor or wax.

I did like threading. To me, it doesn't hurt anymore then waxing. I just get my eyebrows and upper lip done. It's hard to find places that do threading since it's sort of new so I still get waxed a lot. They didn't put the thread in their mouth (like the other posted said), that would be gross. Go to a place that has a lot of experience doing this.
